Arrival Story: Sasha is a pet store dog. I know I know. My husband and I went into a petstore to play with the puppies and there was a Sibe there, 2 actually, a brother a sister. I've never seen a Sibe in a pet store before. Her brother was already sold, my husband picked up Sasha and never put her down until he convinced me to pay for her. There was no way we were leaving that store without her. And we love her.

Hoochie and Raley are two Siberian pals of mine who were brutally gunned down in Florida, shot 6 times at point blank range right in front of their owner, who was begging for the shooter to stop. Through the grace of God they are alive and on the mend, but could sure use some pals right about now.
You see, the police are stalling by not filing charges against the shooter, hoping the outrage will die down and then they can let it all just fade away. We need people to maintain pressure on the State Prosecutor so that will NOT happen.
Please consider signing the on line petition that has been started, in order to bring charges against this monster.
Also feel free to visit Hoochie's and Raley's MySpace page for frequent updates on their condition.
And finally, here is a page from the ASPCA's on line community, with the names and addresses of people you can write to, to INSIST that justice is served.
That link also includes a link to a You Tube video, showing the shooting. Thankfully there was a tourist filming the whole thing. Beware - not for the faint of heart.

Stories of animal abuse really get my mom crying. She wants to save them all. She doesn't understand how anyone can harm an innocent creature. She tells my daddy all the time that if only she could afford it, she'd buy 10 acres and save all the furbabies she could.
Recently my mom has been overwhelmed by stories of cocker spaniels. I want to tell 2 stories today and I hope that by reading this you will tell someone else who will tell someone else & in the end more furbabies can be saved.
First is the story of Peanut. A wonderful woman in CA, who runs CampCocker Rescue (campcocker.com) recently picked Peanut up from a shelter. He was in HORRIBLE shape. His matts were so grown they looked like extra appendages. He was sad and needed love. She took him to her vet right away because it looked like he had a horrible infection on his leg. The vet said he'd investigate and would get to it right away. While Peanut was being looked at she headed home to take care of all her other cocker rescues. A few hours later the vet called and said it was bad. The hair/mats were so tight on his leg that it had cut off circulation & his leg was essentially dead. He had been trying to chew it off. She knew that the best course of action was to amputate, but her vet doesn't do that so she would need to go to a specialist. A specialist who would want payment up front. She just didn't have it. So choose to have Peanut put to rest, so he was no longer in pain and could run freely at the bridge. It breaks my heart that anyone would have to make this decision. Animal rescues need our help. They are the ones out there saving our babies. Let's help support them. Campcocker needs help with fundraising and foster homes. She is committed to doing more in the name of Peanut. I've attached a link to peanuts story. I'm warning you though, you will ball your eyes out. My mommy did and she held me close all night thinking about it. Please help rescues.
Then I have another story. My mommy is a member of a cocker spaniel forum outside of dogster. A member of the forum (we'll call her Z) had to make a choice to leave her current situation and move home with her parents. She left her cocker in the care of someone who said he loved the dog and would never hurt her. He promised to care for her. Well that didn't last long, not 2 months later he dropped K off at a kill shelter. He emailed Z a few days later to let her know. Thank god she came to the forum and told us. People from all over the world sprang into action. Got on the phone, started sending emails etc. The shelter would not let K out! Not even to Z! Now K had a few issues that needed to be treated. Z knew that and she had been doing her best. Now this shelter (who at first told us K wasn't even there) wouldn't let Z have K until she was vet checked and deemed adoptable! Are they nuts. People from all over the world are contacting them, people want this dog no matter what, people have pledged money for her care, but the shelter tells our point person & Z, K will probably be PTS. WHAT!!! I'm so irritated at this shelter. (A lot more happened, but mom can't type it all). Anyway after days and days of the cocker forum coming together K will be released tomorrow to Z. Z is turning her over to a cocker rescue in OH, who is also a member of the forum. It was incredible to see strangers from all over the world come together for Z. Keeping her for a night, transport from FL to OH, $ to pay for gas and her treatment. It is amazing how much people care and can come together. As I said before there is a lot more to this story, but the point is when people come together than can accomplish the impossible. Let's all support rescue.
