Arrival Story:
Unlike our two rescues, Riley comes from champion show dog stock. He is UKC registered and in the process of being AKC registered. His breeder is a wonderful lady and she has been a joy to work with. We keep in touch; she sent Christmas gifts to Riley! Riley is the product of dual DNA artificial insemination; the breeder needed points to get one of her deceased males into the Hall of Fame, and members of that litter can accomplish that. Riley came home with us with every intention of putting his paw down, laying out the rules, being top dog. When Ruby and Tucker realized that this new guy wasn't going anywhere, they showed him differently. They proved to be capable of being even more aggressive, so the first bit of time with the three of them was rather hair-raising, but now Tucker has deemed himself alpha dog, Ruby comes next, then Riley, as it should be. They get along great and Riley has graduated to eating his meals with them in the same room! He has figured out that his main job in life is to be as close to me as possible at all times, he's great on a leash, he's a great watchdog, and he's seriously hilarious with that worried expression and those impossibly long ears. He is much loved.
