Arrival Story:
Hudson is a Deewal Kennel's pup out of Maryland. He was six months old when we met him at the breeders. I had been introduced to the Portuguese Water Dog breed only a few months earlier when I popped into my local coffee shop in Alexandria, Virginia and found a sweet, black wavy-haired dog sitting at the door of the shop waiting for his owner to finish up inside. I asked about the breed and sure enough the owner began singing its praises. I got the name and number of Deewal Kennels from him. My husband and I had a name picked out for our Portie even before we knew he existed! In late November 2005 we took a trip up to Maryland and met Claire McLean, owner of Deewal. She introduced us to "Franklin"-(this was Hudson's name at the time). It was love at first sight! A few days later he was ours! Owning him is pure bliss.

Bio:
Hudson is the King around our castle. Being a Portie he is extremely smart and extremely needy. He loves to have his belly rubbed, to eat Scooby Snacks, to strut his stuff in the show ring, to wake his Poppa up at 5:00am each morning, to play ball, to follow his Momma everywhere she goes, and to hang out of the car window & say hello to his adoring fans. Recently during a visit to the drive thru at our bank I found him making friends with a lady in the car next to ours who told me that she thought he looked just like an Oreo Blizzard! We laughed at her analogy and agree with her completely! Maybe Dairy Queen should think about offering Hudson a commercial!!! Hudson earned his championship last year after only about six shows! He has been home for a year as we find it so hard to let him go off with his handler for more than a few days. We are now looking for another champion Portie, a solid black female, to begin the breeding process! I cannot wait to see his puppies!!!! We sure have a busy year ahead!!!
