A Happy Note

I'll never disparage the dog catcher again!

Almost a year after Zak died, I received a license renewal notice for him from Oakland Animal Control Services. One of the choices on the renewal form is "The dog is deceased or no longer owned by me." I checked that box, circled deceased, and drew a frowny face next to it, as I had been thinking a lot about Zak recently and was really missing him. About a week later I opened my mail to find a very sweet letter of condolence from the licensing manager at Oakland Animal Services. That a public servant working at an overwhelmed city agency took the time to send me a personal note touched me deeply. It is one of the nicest things anyone has done, not mention above and beyond the call of duty, so along with Miles & Jena (and Zak & Bean from beyond the Bridge), I send out big wags to Oakland Animal Contol!

Gosh, that was truly nice of that person! It is nice to hear that there are good people working at those jobs! Must be a true dog lover!

There sure are good people working there--our mom is one of them now! The lady who sent the letter about me retired before mom started, but she says that everyone there is SUPER nice and really loves dogs and cats (and bunnies, and goats, and birds, and lizards, and chickens, and ducks...)
