Arrival Story:
Mia started her new life when she was rescued in Feb. 2007 with 18 other beagles in horrendous conditions in a house in Limington, Maine with no food, water, electicity or care. Beagles of New England States (BONES) took over and provided her badly needed medical care and got her spayed, and transported her to a wonderful foster family in C T. Mia spent 4 months recovering from her traumatic experiences both medically and emotionally. At the same time that Mia was healing and experiencing life in a loving home with 7 other beagles, my husband and I lost our 15 year-old beagle Chancie unexpectedly when she gad a stroke. We were both devastated and grieving and though we both knew that it would be some time before we would get another dog, we agreed that this time we would adopt instead of getting a puppy. As fate had it, we learned that there was a woman in our town that fosters beagles. My husband went to visit her and her beagles, and he met Mia for the first time. We both fell in love with Mia and adopted her in June 2007.
Bio:
Mia loves her foster mom Melanie and Melanie's family (humans and beagles), and she loves to visit them and have play dates.
At home, Mia has 3 cats that she tolerates but she doesn't like us to give them any attention. She is afraid of our 25 year old orange winged Amazon parrot Oscar when out of the cage, but Mia is oh, so interested in the human food that Oscar gets.
