Arrival Story:
We were going back and forth on getting a dog and were thinking of other large breeds. We saw Sophie a few times and kept thinking about her, so my husband brought her home one night and the rest is history....we couldn't ask for a better dog!

Bio:
In March 08, Sophie broke her growth plate and it closed early. She got surgery May 1 where they cut out a part of the bone and inserted a plate and about 8 screws. She was in a cast for 6 weeks. It was quite an ordeal, but she came through it ok. Afterwards, there was a lot of scar tissue formed, so we are now doing some doggie-physical therapy (bending her "wrist") a few times a day to loosen it up. In October 08, Sophie ran out into the street to see her friend and got hit by a car. She ended up breaking the leg she had surgery on! She was in another cast (unbelieveable!) for 4 weeks. Her leg is very tight but she uses it just fine - runs, walks, never shows pain. She's loving life everyday - even with a not-so-perfect leg!

Santa is scary!!!!

My mom and dad took me to see Santa yesterday. They thought it would be fun and we have a cute picture of me from last year. They dressed me up in my pretty Christmas collar and I pulled them into the store. I saw all kinds of cool stuff - it was great!!! I saw people, and cats, and dogs, and toys, and food bags, and I was having so much fun! But then....I saw Santa. I barked at him about 20 times and mom and dad were pretty surprised since I have never barked at a human before. The beard freaked me out. The nice lady working there gave me treats and tried to bribe me to get near that scary guy but I wasn't having it! I got on my belly and slid myself back over to safety by mom and dad. That nice lady tried to lure me over again, but this time I turned around pretty fast and she kinda sorta fell on me. I don't really know how big I am - all I knew was that Scary Claus was too close. That was pretty much the end - we left and I slept for the next 18 hours. All in all, it was my kind of day...except for the scary bearded guy.
