Arrival Story:
Our oldest daughter called me one day and said she was bringing home a dog. It turned out that Suzy was a farm dog and was never allowed in the house. She had to share a food dish with another more aggressive dog who did not always leave enough food for Suzy. My daughter heard that the farm owners were planning to shoot Suzy because she was considered a "nuisance"....she was trained to bring the cows from the field to the barn, and apparently she wasn't doing her job to their satisfaction....... So she approached the farm owners and asked if she could take Suzy....well, they were only too happy to be rid of her....so Suzy came home to us. She was around 7 years of age at that time.

Bio:
Suzie's first few weeks were quite tense because she had to adjust to living in a house and she guarded her food dish fiercely.... The first couple of weeks the entire family, including Scruffy. all huddled in the living room while Suzy ate...she would not let any of us in the kitchen when she was eating! Slowly she came to realize that no one was going to try and share her food. Before too long Suzy adjusted beautifully, and we even came to a point where we were actually able to touch her dish while she was eating!!!!! That was a major triumph.... Suzy did not like Scruffy in the beginning and often snarled at him....and Scruffy just adored her!!!! Eventually she softened and they were inseparable..... They often slept side by side on the sofa..... and if Suzy took off....Scruffy was not far behind her.
