Chase came to us as a 9 week old pup. From the beginning he was an absolutely brilliant, loving and loyal companion. We were constantly amazed at how smart he was. He loved to play, especially frisbee. He could catch a long toss in the air in his better days. He loved to roll a ball around the back yard, whether it was a soccer ball, basket ball, or giant playground ball, he made it move! He also loved to do the "herding" thing. Any moving object in his yard was fair game, be it kid, lawnmower, squirrel or motorcycle. He even tried to herd butterflies in the yard. It was so funny! He would have been a great herding dog in the old cowboy days! Chase would follow me around the house like a little shadow. Wherever I was, he was within sight and waiting for me. He had his ways of enticing me to play with him. He'd go get his tug rope toy and throw it around with his mouth, and drop it at my feet over and over until I picked it up and played. Or he would bring it to me while I was laying on the couch. He'd put his little snout right up on the couch with the toy in his mouth, and just look at me with those incredibly expressive eyes, or he'd bring it and lay it on my hand or on my foot. He knew how to get my attention. He was well loved and will be missed. He died on Dec. 30, 2007, of unreversible congestive heart failure after doing what he loved most, running to chase a squirrel, even though his old heart had been gradually wearing out over the past months. There is a huge hole in our hearts now that he is gone. There will never be another Chase for us. He was the top dog of all time. He was our fur baby for 9 1/2 years, and a very unique and one-of-a-kind companion. Bio: Chase had the typical personality of a Sheltie. He was extremely expressive, especially verbally. He would respond to us as if he was talking to us. He would groan in pleasure when he was being loved or brushed. He would literally answer us when we asked questions by saying "uh huh!" in his sweet voice. He knew so many human words that he could understand simple conversations sometimes it seemed. He knew our family routine, and his goal in life was to please us. He was always a happy dog and he let us know when something was awry in his house. He was such a sweet, sweet boy! He was always there for us, always dependable. He loved us so much and we loved him ! We miss him greatly. Forums Motto: Little Buddy The Groups I'm In: Rainbow Bridge Angel Babies
