Arrival Story:
Our original GSD Gus passed over to the Rainbow Bridge the first Saturday of June 2001. He was my husband's dog and Gus and I had a real love/hate relationship. We had bought 2 bitches from the same litter 18months prior when we discover he was sick, but they turned out to be very disappointing. I never thought I would ever miss Gus, but I did. The grief I felt with his passing was immense. 3 months after his passing I called the breeder who had owned his sire in the hope that they may have had a great grandson/daughter who had Gus' bloodlines (my husband thought I was crazy, but I just couldn't help myself I was so sad). They didn't, but had a 6 month old bitch from a sire of the similar blood. I brought the bitch home and despite falling in love with her she would only come to me. It was so bad she would only eat food from me even if she was starving, so I had to take her back because she didn't fit in with our family. I felt so bad inside as I left her I was almost in tears and then I saw this most beautiful, georgous bitch jumping up onto the wire fence at the end of her run, calling out to me. She was the most beautiful bitch I had ever seen and I turned back to the breeder and told her that if I could have any bitch puppy ever I wanted one of that bitches puppies. The breeder laughed and promptly told me that this bitch was the best bitch in their kennels. It was made rather obvious that this bitches female puppies would never be sold to the likes of me - just a pet owner. I'm a great believer that if you truly truly want something with all sincerity the universe will provide that for you. I told the breeder once more in all sincereity, ignoring her scoffs, that I wanted a bitch puppy out of that bitch. The bitch is named Demi - after Demi Moore because she was so beautiful in her younger days. The breeders expression changed. "Strangely enough," she said quietly, "that bitch is supposed to be in pup, but she's 5 weeks now and doesn't look the least bit in pup." "I'll make a bet with you then," I told her. "I bet that bitch is in puppy and if I'm right you'll let me have a bitch puppy from that litter." The breeder smirked as she looked at the bitch and agreed. I called her every week to check on Demi's progress. Demi actually didn't even show any signs of being pregnant until the 8th week and then had 13 puppies. The rest is history now because Jade the pick of the litter became mine.

Jade is Bella's mother. She's the most fantastic dog I have ever known and my kennel's foundation Mummy Pup. I got her at 6 week's old and she fetched on command from day 1. Jade slept on the end of my bed from that first night and we never had even 1 puddle in the house. At six months old I took her to dog training classes with a well known dog trainer in our city. He was the head dog trainer for the police dogs in our country at one stage. Halfway through the course he took me aside and smiled as he placed his hand on Jade's head. "I won Australasian Police Dog Championships with my Police Dog Bitch," he told me. "If I'd had this bitch though, the sky would have been the limit with what I could have done and achieved." Several of Jade's puppies from her 1st litter went through his 6 month training course 3 yrs later and he wrote me a very nice letter saying that Jade's puppies were of a calibre of GSD he hadn't seen for many years and that he would personally recommend me as a GSD breeder - a wonderful recommendation as a breeder of the greatest kind. Strangely enough one of Jade's full brothers did join the police force and was a very successful K9. None of the successes I have had as a dog breeder would have been possible without Jade - my soul mate and the greatest dog I have ever owned.

Irish - Dancer Von Gavarol was known by many names, but the nearest and dearest to my heart was her baby puppy name that I called her most affectionately by - "Bub."
"Bub," later progressed to "The Original Bub," when she became the foundation bitch of "Rahkantra - House of Beauty and Greatness."
She lived a very healthy 6yrs, 8months and 11 days, never suffering from one stiff joint of arthritis or any other ailment.
Bub had good hips and elbows for her breed. She was an incredible unnerving judge of character - if she didn't like someone there was always very good reason no matter what. As a brood bitch she bestowed upon her offspring good looks and exceptional temperaments.
Every dog I now own has a part of her within them. Why would I ever want to own a dog that didn't have a part of her living within them?

Tonight she has passed over to the Rainbow Bridge and I am reflecting on the special parts of her she has left behind as a living legacy.

Abigail - protector and guardian of her household, just like her mum.
Bella - who has her mother's beauty and gracefulness.
Misty - who has her mother's couragousness.
Jack - who has his mother's strength, her eyes, and slightly east west feet.
Crystal - the playful one who has her mother's indomitable spirit and unfathomable love in her heart for her family.
Lily - the fighter with immense courage and the will to survive against whatever life throws her way.
Blackie - the alpha, the leader of the pack.
Holly - the pleaser who wants to obey and do what is right.

In life she was one of a priviledged few who never suffered abuse. She never knew what it felt like to endure any physical punishment. The harshest words ever spoken to her by me were - "Get your butt here now," as I pointed my finger down at my side, and then she knew she had been VERY BAD.
She was loved unconditionally from the moment she ran up to me as a five week old puppy begging me to be her mistress - her soul mate.
I fully confess to overindulging her with love, watching her weight more than I've ever watched mine, getting her up at 5am to walk for an hour before I went to work - not for my physical fitness, but hers.

Now my precious soul mate has stepped through the doorway between life and death to the Rainbow Bridge leaving me behind.
I know that she will be waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge and that destined future appointment of my life with death suddenly seems to have lost even the remotest fear or uncertainty.
Until that wonderful day when I pass through that doorway I will stay here trying to be to the best of my abilities a wise steward of the precious gifts she has left me in her son, daughters and grandaughters.

Remember me until we meet again, my love, my soulmate, my most precious one, dearest to my heart.
