Likes: Going places with Mommy. I love to be held and sit in her lap all day. I love cuddles and scritches best of all!
Pet-Peeves: Being left alone! My brothers and sisters (the other dogs and cats) can be pretty annoying sometimes, and if you pester me too much I can get grouchy.
Favorite Toy: I don't like to play with many toys (besides Mommy of course!) but my favorite is my stuffed elephant that Daddy gave me. It used to belong to his old dog but now it's all mine.
Favorite Food: I love any kind of meat scraps, raw and cooked! I also love jerky treats and the soft and chewy bites from Wellness. Sometimes I'll chew on bullysticks, flossies, or bones - it just depends how my teeth are feeling that day. I love peanut butter too!
Favorite Walk: Around the neighborhood and the pet store.
Best Tricks: I will come when called and follow Mommy anywhere.
Arrival Story: One day, my old mom T.J. called my new Mommy and asked if she could take me. Apparently where I was living, I wasn't supposed to be living, and if T.J. didn't find a new home for me, she was going to get evicted. My new Mommy had said "no more pets" because she already had a big family of animals, but she agreed to at least take me for the time being until a permanent home could be found. But after she met me and saw what kind of condition I was in, she fell in love with me and decided she had to do her best to keep me to ensure that I'd have a good life.
Bio: I had a lot of adjusting to do in my new home. No one knows how old I am, but because I have quite a bit of grey hair, Mommy estimated that I was about 7 years old when she adopted me. When Mommy adopted me, I had a lot wrong with me. My nails were so overgrown that some of them were one inch long and twisted out straight, and some were curled under and embedded in my paw pads. I couldn't do a lot of walking the way my nails were, so my legs/joints are very stiff and sore. I might have the beginnings of arthritis. My fur and skin weren't in the best shape either - I was all dry and flaky and very itchy! I had fleas too (yep, in the middle of winter!) and stunk really bad, but a bath and a Capstar pill solved that problem! I used to eat really crappy dog food, but now I get to eat yummy healthier food that is not so hard to chew. Chewing was hard for me because my teeth were in pretty bad shape too - I had bad tartar and plaque (Mommy said my breath smelled awful... I try not to take it personally), and some of my teeth were just so rotten that the vet had to remove them. The more nutritious food is also helping my skin and coat! I also was not spayed (yet!). My old owners made me have several litters of puppies, but they were always stillborn. I came into heat soon after coming to my new home, so my spay surgery had to wait, but I finally had it done and it's a big relief. My old mom had me for four years, and before that I lived with someone else whose son abused me (he would throw me up against the walls), so I'm really glad to have a good home now. I was very timid at first, so Mommy had to work on socializing me but now I love people. I just need lots of love and tender care!
Important Dates: My Birthday is August 23rd, 2000. I was adopted and came to my forever home on December 26th, 2007.
Name: My name was already Lulu when I came to Mommy. Since I'm older and already recognize it as my name and respond to it, Mommy didn't want to change my name. However, Mommy decided to give me a middle name, so my full name is now Lulu Michelle. I got my middle name from a good friend of both my old and new mommies. I always loved when Michelle would come over and visit too, so Mommy thought it would be fitting to honor her by making it my middle name.
Out and About: I'm not really an outdoorsy sort of dog since I'm so small and fragile. I do like going places with Mommy though. Riding in the car is a lot of fun, and I like going to friends' houses to visit and meet new people. When the weather is nice I like to go for walks around the neighborhood (which helps keep me in shape) and to the park.
Family: I have a big family that loves me very much! I live with Mommy and Daddy (her boyfriend) in a nice house with a big backyard in a small rural town in central Arkansas. Mommy only works part-time, so she has plenty of time to take care of me and the rest of us pet-kids around here. My Zedi and Bubbi (grandparents on Mommy's side) live about 45 minutes away. And then of course Mommy has a lot of close friends who are just like family - some of them I even call my Aunts and Uncles too.
Training: I am already very well mannered, although Mommy doubts that I've had any sort of formal obedience training. I'm really good at "Come" and "Sit". Mommy works on training me herself.
Food: I used to eat Ol' Roy before I came to live with Mommy. It was such a bad food though that I was malnourished and had some other health problems from it. Now I'm on a grain-free/raw diet. Mostly I eat several different brands of grain-free kibble (we rotate between Instinct, Evo, Core, and Taste of the Wild mostly), and then I get supplemental meals of canned, home-cooked, and raw.

Mommy entered me in a contest on Facebook! One of our favorite brands of dog food, Nature's Variety, has a page on Facebook and is holding a testimonial contest. Mommy posted a testimonial about how much the food helped me after I was rescued, and posted my picture. And I got picked for the finals!
If everyone could do us a BIIIIIIG BIG favor and vote for me, Mommy and I would be soooo soo grateful.
All you have to do is look for Nature's Variety on Facebook and become a fan. Then scroll down to my picture - or click here.
This was my first Thanksgiving with Mommy and Daddy, and I have a lot to be thankful for since I've been living with them this past year.
I'm thankful that Mommy rescued me from my old guardian, and that she decided to keep me and has taken such good care of me. I'm thankful that I have a Daddy who loves me too, and that I never have to be afraid of getting hurt by my family ever again. I'm thankful that I'm much healthier now than I was this time last year, and that now I have parents who make sure I see the vet when I need to. I'm thankful that I'm spayed now, and will never be forced to breed again, and will never have to experience miscarriages or having stillbirths, or my puppies dying which was so sad for me. I'm thankful that Mommy keeps my nails trimmed properly now, and that she has that nail grinder thing so I don't have to get my nails cut the scary way anymore. I'm thankful that I have my brothers and sisters, canine and feline, because even though I didn't like them at first, now we all get along and it's great having playmates. I'm thankful that I always get lots of cuddles and kisses. I'm thankful that I get to sunbathe on the porch when I want, have sweaters and blankets to keep me warm when it's cold, get to go on walks to explore and keep in shape, and have a yard to play in. I'm thankful that I have tasty, healthy food to eat, and that I get lots of treats and chewies. I'm thankful that I have toys to play with and comfy beds to nap in. I'm thankful that I have wonderful friends. I'm thankful that I'm very loved, and that this is my forever home, so I'll never have to worry about being mistreated or unloved ever again.
Thank you everywoof for the prayers. I am home from the hospital now. I'm not feeling too well - I'm very sore and still kinda groggy. The vet had to pull a few of my teeth, and my incision from my spay surgery is very ouchy and sensitive. I'm pretty hungry too, since I couldn't eat the night before surgery, so I haven't eaten anything since yesterday afternoon. Mommy is cooking some boiled chicken and rice for me though and hopefully it won't hurt my mouth too much to eat some of it. Mommy also stopped by the pet store and got some of my favorite canned food for me to eat for the next week or so until I can handle dry food again. I'm glad that my Auntie Lydia, Mommy's animal angel friend, was there to take care of and keep watch over me during my surgery and afterwards. I was very glad to see Mommy though and glad to come home! I'm worn out, so I'm gonna take a nap with Mommy on the couch now.
