Arrival Story:
Murph and I grew up together. I was 2 1/2 years old when my mom brought him home. He was about 3-4 months old at the time. I can remember birthday parties when he'd destroy the remnants of a pinata, and the time her chewed up my bubble camera, and freaked out when he met my robotic Lhasa Apso toy I got for Christmas. He was there from the time I was a toddler, up until I turned into a teenager. Murphy entered our lives spontaneously. My mom and grandma had decided to drop by the San Gabriel Humane Society in So. Cal on September 1st, 1990. They just wanted to look around; no intention of adopting a pet. Mom had heard that some Sharpeis had been brought in, and Grandma had never seen one in person. Upon walking around the shelter, they came across a little unnamed, abandoned lab/shepherd mix puppy. My mom asked to hold him, and they let her. Immediately Murph started to snuggle into her neck, making little grunts and puppy noises. Mom fell in love and brought him home.

Bio:
After a long, happy life of almost 12 years, Murph passed away from cancer on July 18th, 2001. He had developed a tumor inside his mouth and nasal passages, and we decided it was in his best interests to let him go. The most heart breaking moment was seeing how happy he was to go for a car ride with mom...completely oblivious that he wouldn't be coming home again. His tail was wagging the entire car ride to the animal shelter, Mom had said. But, in a twist of fate, my Mom had forgotten her purse, and had to drive back home to get it. Bringing Murph back home with her. I held him tight in the front seat of the car as Mom slowly walked inside to get her purse. I sat in the front seat and hugged him, then kissed him good-bye one last time, again watching his happy face and wagging tail. Murph left this world a happy dog, and he's sorely missed.
