Still around

Sorry for the lack of activity, just still in kind of a funk. Boo's still being her nutty self, and as happy as ever.

We'll try and update some things on here as time permits.

1st stay at the kennel

Well Boo survived her stay at the kennel last week. From all reports she did great for her first time. After we were back home for a bit, I heard this noise that I couldn't identify. First thought it was the fridge taking a dump, or the fish tank pump had a squirrel caught in it, just something really wrong. What I found was Delilah at the front door "trying" to bark at someone that had knocked on the door. I howled, she had herself all barked out. The poor girl was absolutely horse from barking over the 5 days while in the kennel. We did a few tropical flavor Halls to help the sore throat, and she did her best to sleep non-stop for the next 2 days, so everything’s better now, the barker's all better, and works just fine.

Vet visit

Well the ol'girl hit the vets for a check up after things settled down a little. Apparently the tick she picked up in feb/mar left her a present. So now we're on antibiotics for Lyme disease (spelled lime for cinco de mayo). Between that and both ears have a slight bacterial infection. So she has her little daily pill counter going for the next couple of weeks. Good part is she's in great shape for an old broad, and tipping the scales at 70 pounds (I'm supposed to say "it's all muscle") She's still moping around the house, and still runs out to the car waiting for her Mommy to get out. Both her, and her Daddy wish that were the case.

We're going to try a boarding kennel for the first time this weekend, just for a day to see how it goes. Hopefully she'll meet some new friends there, and it'll be ok. Fingers crossed.

Thanks again for the comments and support over the last few weeks, it's helped a lot.

I want to send the warmest holiday wishes to everfur, and their humans. On this Christmas Eve, I reflect on the year, and the trials it has brought. I pray that 2010 is a much happier and healthier year for my family, and for all of yours. May peace comfort your souls, may love fill your hearts, and may graciousness be the exception to the rule. God bless, and God speed!! I love you all!!

The Flu Can Fly Away!!!!

As if my Mommy doesn't feel lousy enough at times, she got hit with the flu!!! It's been hangin' on for about a month now. Her doctor said she can't afford to get "sick" because her immune system is already not where it should be due to the cancer, and her meds. Daddy had it, but he got over it rather quickly. Anyway, Mommy is still dealing with a cough, and definitely fatigue, but she feels a lot better than she did. I've just been a good fur and lay by her side to comfort her. Mommy appreciates that, and then gives me lots of kissies!!! I hope she doesn't give me the flu!!!! I'm a tough, hearty gal - I'll just growl and the flu bug will run away yelping!! BOL!!!!

When Life Gives You Lemons.....

I'm sure that many of you have heard the saying, "when life gives you lemons, make lemonade". That's what my Mommy has been doing since June. Making lemonade out of lemons. Her "lemon" is the diagnosis that she has stage 4 breast cancer. She found that out when she unexpectedly was rushed to the hospital, back in June, when she was having difficulty breathing. She waited to have any medical care because she thought it was just her allergies/sinuses give her trouble. She just kept taking those over-the-counter allergy/sinus/cold medications. Well, she finally couldn't let it go any longer. She went to the hospital by ambulance, and they admitted her; keeping her for 2 weeks. During that time, they took over a litre of fluid from each lung, plus over a litre of fluid from around her heart. Termed pleural, and cardiac, effusions, she had to have surgery to prevent any fluid from re-accumulating. This is when she found out that she has the cancer. She consented to having a biopsy done because things just didn't look right. They also found some cancer cells on her spine, liver and brain. They attribute the effusions to the cancer. Mommy believes that a positive attitude accounts for a lot of positive outcomes, and she also believes in the old saying "one day at a time".
In the time since, she's had numerous tests done to find out if the cancer has spread any further, and has been placed on medication to combat it. Well, the cancer hasn't spread any further, and, to the doctors amazement, the lesions in her brain have decreased. They said they have no idea ho that came to be or what's going on because they have never seen it before. Mommy just giggled and said that maybe it's an act of God. Something positive is working!!!
All my furiends here on Dogster have been so wonderful!! All the prayers, thoughts, well wishes and love just means so much, and it is so appreciated. Furiends, you have been here for me, and my Mommy. And, furiends, I and my Mommy are here for all of you!! This is what life's about. Loving, learning, giving, sometimes crying, always grateful, and thankful for the days given and the souls who've come into my life. God, and the Angels, are listening, and watching and taking care of all of us. Lemonade all around - free for the taking!!

Time To Bloom

April 18th 2009 7:32 am

Spring is here!! Even though I love ths snow, I also become refreshed when Spring arrives, and flowers begin to blossom. This Spring is especially renewing because of the rough times endured this past winter and emerging on positive notes. Mommy's stepbrother is doing very well, and Mommy is beginning to feel like her old self. We don't know why things happen the way they do, but Mommy is a firm believer in "you aren't ever given anything that you cannot handle". Strength is gained through having to travel a rocky road.
We are very blessed, and thankful, for all the friends that have been there for Mommy and me. It's true - you never walk alone. We can't begin to express just how much our Dogster family means to us. As the flowers and trees blossom with new life, may we dance, and celebrate, with a renewed excitement for life within all of us!!!

We thought Steve would be the one, first, but Brian was worse. He is doing remarkedly!! Thank God, he will make it!! Godspeed to the soul that's gone to heaven, and has been so selfless to give what someone else is in need of!! Thank you!! God rewards you!! Thank you!! This... really makes it what it is all about!! I'm speechless! I am humbled.
