Likes: It would be easier to list the things she doesn't like!
Pet-Peeves: Not being the center of attention, not getting any of your food, people trying to take her toys away and a few others that I can't remember off the top of my head.
Favorite Toy: Anything that can fit in her mouth, and some things that can't! She's been known to steal the pool thermometer and other floating pool devices.
Favorite Food: Pssht, everything.
Favorite Walk: A walk is a walk to her, no matter where!
Arrival Story: While I don't remember that day very well, here's how my mother tells it.. We went to a vet to pick up some medication for my grandparent's Dachshund, Baby. Though it wasn't what we came for, we decided to look at their Labrador Retrievers. You see, we had tragically lost both of our Labrador Retrievers when I was a kid, and despite the fact that my parents adored the breed, we hadn't gotten another for years, and we still didn't plan on it. However, when bouncy little 6 month old LB came in we all instantaneously fell in love! One clear thing I remember about that day was me still in my school dress, and her running over to chew on the buckle! As we were in a good position to adopt a dog anyway, we adopted Lady. Her name is a variation of one of our previous Lab's name, "Lady Bird."
Bio: Lady is a very...special dog. When we first brought her home, she didn't know how to bark for weeks! She did finally learn though...and hasn't shut up since! LOL It also took us a very long time to potty train her as she does a long "potty dance" before she goes potty that, if disrupted, must start all over again. We eventually caught on to this dance she does and finally managed to potty train her. I have never been able to train Lady, despite my many attempts. In my opinion, this problem seems to be caused by her ABSOLUTE ADORATION OF FOOD. While sometimes this is a good thing in training, Lady has brought it to a whole new level and steals the treats from physically weak me before she even does the trick! She's also been known to steal from babies, toddlers, and little children. However, she does know a few tricks that she has caught on to after nine years listening to them. This includes sit, come, lay down, stay, bed, up, and a few others. She still can't complete this 100% though.
Takoda is Lady's first "dog friend." It has been a great thing for LB, though as she's in her elder years and has already developed arthritis she hasn't gotten to enjoy it as much as she would have if she was younger. Lady has also developed a habit of humping Takoda. LOL. Wouldn't say it's a dominance thing though, as Takoda is alpha and there's no doubting that. LB rolls over for Takoda in just about everything. Except toys. But LB don't share with nobody! Despite her age, LB is still the hyperactive Lab she always has been. Maybe not as much, but she gets more excited than Aussie mix Takoda! She has, however, developed some jealousy towards Takoda which I'm sure isn't helped by the fact that Takoda is the first animal LB has ever had to share attention with, other than the cats.
