Arrival Story:
For several months I'd been scanning Petfinder for my parents and for myself. My parents had had two Yorkies (Confetti and Spumoni) but Confetti had passed away earlier in the year and they were now ready for a second furry family member in the house again. For them I was searching for a Cocker Spaniel, they'd had Cockers previously for several years and loved the breed. I could take in any dog, wasn't looking for anything inparticular just a friend for Sophie and for my daughter and myself. I came across a profile for a black and white Cocker (with no picture) from The Pet Connection and thought that sounded like strange coloring for a Cocker Spaniel. Turns out he was a Springer Spaniel and just about the calmest, sweetest, most peaceful animal you've ever seen. I was told Springers are usually a bit on the hyper side but not this guy. So sitting in the waiting room area of the shelter and through the door comes this sad looking droopy faced boy straight to us and he was ours. No way I could've left without him that day.

Bio:
When we first got Clarence home it was sadly obvious that his previous life probably wasn't all that great. He was pretty shy and didn't even want treats and wasn't even all that interested in food. Also, he had to have either been left outside for much of his life or not been allowed to get up on anything people related. It even took time for him to realize it was ok to lay on his own bed and that it was for him. It was very strange to watch him try to decide if it was ok or not when we'd call him up on our laps or to sit on the couch beside us. He'd do a kind of dance like one foot up then down then the two front feet up then back down. All the time looking at us like are you sure it's ok? He's still a bit nervous around men and new people but at least now he feels safe to do whatever he pleases in his new forever home!
