Arrival Story: Sasha is our rescue. She was very close to being given to a shelter or put down by her former owner because they never socialized her at all and she became very dominant, super anxious, fearful, and aggressive. A trainer friend took her in for several weeks trying to find a home that could handle her, because she was a really sweet dog, just with some major issues. We arranged a meeting between Sasha and my other dog Nico at the doggie daycare I work at--it was love at first sight! Sasha didn't like too many other dogs, but she took to him immediately. She was such a gorgeous girl, I knew we had to help her! I convinced my hubby that he needed to see this girl, and he also fell in love.

Bio: Needless to say, it's been a LOT of work getting Sasha to where she is today. I'm glad I took her in because I don't think many other people would or could have handled her level of aggression. After a month, she was completely different. Even the trainer continues to marvel at how CALM, sweet, and "normal" Sasha is now after living with us. Basically all we had to do was show her that we were her alpha, and as such would not tolerate dominance or aggression in the house. More importantly, we showed her that it was our duty to protect her, and not the other way around; she didn't have to be so nervous and aggressive. She seems so relieved not to be burdened with the job of being on guard 24/7, and has relaxed into a totally safe, sweet girl that we can take anywhere. We love her SO much and are thankful that we saved her just in the nick of time.
