Being in the Intensive Care Unit with an oxygen tube in his nose. Going swimming .
Oh come on, anything! bananas, apples, carrots, dog treats, gloves, ceramic shards, etc.
Used to be around the block and to the local Starbucks and bagel shop. Sammy can't walk anymore as he has degenerative myelopathy. He has a cart but it's hard to get him into it. He does go swimming 3 times a week for exercise.
Used to be: putting his big nose in my face when it's time for me to get up. Now: Sam can't walk anymore so he can't come over to the bed BUT he does a great job of whining to wake me up and then little barks to make me get up and give him a snack!
I am Sam's foster mom and now his adoptive mom. San Francisco Bay Area German Shepherd Rescue pulled him from the Humane Society Silicon Valley on Aug 26, 2004. Sam is not adoptable because he has just (late December 2004) been diagnosed with degenerative myelopathy. So I am keeping Sam.
Sam has not been able to walk for several months. I use the Hartman Harness to help him go outside to do his duty. He swims three times a week. He is still happy so we are doing OK. You can read all about Sam in his blog at www.samtheblackgsd.blogspot.com.
Please see Sam's blog . Sam is no longer adoptable but we have lots of other wonderful German Shepherds as part of the San Francisco Bay Area German Shepherd Rescue group., To be considered as an adoptee parent you must fill out an adoption form. A link to the form is on Sam's blog.
