Two Years at the Rainbow Bridge

2 years at the Bridge ~ time sure can “fly” when you have wings…BOL! I’ve been watching over Mom since I left her and she mostly has good days. I see her staring at my pictures a lot, especially the one on her screensaver *sigh*. Mom still can’t believe I’m gone but watching me with all of my friends sure helps her TONS! I see she adopted yet another fur-baby in need and they even get to play with some of my toys…I don’t mind really because I had fun with them and I have new hobbies at the Bridge. I have met some super cool dogs and cats and it’s nice to know that I wasn’t the only furbaby in the world to be loved and adored. My new friends and I tell funny stories about things we used to do back home and we are also making new memories up here.

This would have also been my 11th Woof Day and I know that Mom would be starting to worry about my age by now, wondering how much longer I had with her. Sometimes Mom can’t decide if losing me in the blink of an eye was easier than losing me to old age and illness later on down the road. I feel bad for leaving her when I did; she was in the middle of so much heartache, only to have more heartache thrown at her over me..she really needed me during those terrible years and I know that is part of the reason she cried for me so much; sorry Mom!

Thank you to all of my pals who helped to support us both over these past 2 years, you have no idea how much you mean to mom and I.

Well, it’s time to fly off to meet my pals at our favorite spot next to the big Oak tree, I’m sure someone will have brought food and drink and there are always plenty of butterflies to chase and clouds to watch float by.

~ Rainbow Bridge Day 2009 ~

Hello Bubba,

It’s me again sending a special letter to you at the Rainbow Bridge. This past year has been so different since the last time I sent you a balloon…I hope you don’t mind that I only cry for you every other day instead of every day but I think about you every minute. Remember the old UPS guy named Joe? His truck comes by the office again and he asked about you…he was sorry to hear that you had gone on to Heaven; I told him about Jewels and he is looking forward to meeting her but we both agreed that you were One of A Kind!

I hope you still think about me when you’re not busy having fun with those crazy furs up there at the Turtle Pond! I’m sure right now you and 5 little cuties are plotting and planning some kind of silliness and as always I will be silently watching you play on the sidelines.

Make sure you keep spending time with all the newer angels who need you…especially little D-Max and White Boots…stay close to them in the Cat Nip Patch and help them watch over their family. Give Daisy and Putter a BIG hug and always tell them how much you appreciate their hard work at the Bridge.

I see Grandma Annie and Aunt Suzy all the time…G’Ma Annie still has your orange lobster toy and she won’t let little Lucy Lu play with it…she says it’s yours and she wouldn’t feel right letting another dog play with it…she really loved you!

You sent me a lot of Rainbows this year and I want to say “Thank You”…I took a few pictures of them to show some of your friends; I hope you don’t mind that I was bragging about you!

I picked out a nice blue balloon to send you this year as I know how you feel about the “pink stuff”….ha, ha! Now that I have Jewels I am getting my girlie pink fix taken care of.

You are and will always be my heart, my insides and my love.

Until we meet again,

Mama
XOXOXO

Hut one..hut two...I got the pigskin handed off to me by my goodpal Lucas. Here are the rules: I'm gett'n my "team" together and we're gonna cross that line and make us a touchdown! Before the ref raises his boney little arms to signal the 6 points I gotta spill the beans (pffht..excuse me!) about myself and then pass the ball to 5 of my furiends who will each do the same. Don't forget to leave me a bone to let me know you got my hand signals and you're in the "game.

Are you ready...I'm going out for a long pass.........

1) I moved my mouth and pretended to "talk" like a human...people always thought I was choking on something..bol

2) I used to like sleep with my nose tucked under my armpits...aaahhhh..the aroma!

3) I had a secret crush on our cat! She was bigger than me and used to knock me over alot.

4) I used to hide from Mom and listen as she ran through the house in a panic looking for me..boy did I get it when she found me...heehee!

5) I used to try and bury things in the carpet and push my imaginary "dirt" back into my imaginary "hole". They have counseling for this I hear.

Okay, who is gonna run it in for a touchdown...hmm...how about:

Beezer
Echo
Moo-Shoe
Annie
Bill (Moved On)

I'm off to leave Lucas some bones now since he was good enough to include me in his game...I hope those bones make him feel better!!!

Merry Christmas!

This morning it was raining at Mama's house but the sun peeked out so I decided to send her a GIANT Christmas Rainbow from the Bridge. Mom and Grandma Annie went outside and knew I was watching over them on Christmas...Mama whispered "thank you" as she snapped a few pictures to remember my gift!

My Going to Rainbow Bridge Story...

Well, most of you know how I went to the Bridge one night but I want to re-tell the story because it might help to save the life of another pup somewhere out there who thinks it could never happen to them.

My Mama and I lived in a tract house area but we were kinda rural because we were in an equestrian neighborhood. There were lots of wild creatures around like bobcats, racoons, opossoms, hawks and an occasional mountain lion. Mama always watched me like a hawk because she was afraid some barn owl or hawk would swoop down and snatch me up so I always stayed close to her. One day Mama found our kitty killed right in our own back yard by some coyotes so Mama got worried for me and was watching me extra hard. About a week later I begged Mama to let me go out in our backyard to go Pee-Pee so Mama let me out (it was dark outside already); she forgot that she had left the upper gate open because she was out picking peaches earlier to make a pie. Well, I slipped through the gate without Mama seeing me and she was looking all over for me and looked up just in time to see a pack of coyotes running off with my little body in their mouth...

Mama jumped the fence in her bare feet and ran after those coyotes with everything she had but they were too fast and disappeared into the night. Mama drove around our neighborhood calling my name and finally realized I was gone and crumpled onto the street sobbing. Mama always thought coyotes were kinda shy and would never approach if a human was around but she was wrong. She found out later on that some pups have been snatched right off their leashes as their owners were walking them!!! Mama isn't mad at the coyotes because she knows they don't know the difference between a pet and dinner for their pack. Mama was driving down the street a week later and slammed on her brakes when a coyote ran in front of her car...the thought of taking revenge on those coyotes has never crossed her mind.

Please let your pups who are still on earth know to be extra careful (especially the little ones) as this is a terrible way to leave your family. Mama was especially sad because she didn't have anything left of me to make ashes out of but my Grandma Annie found a clump of my fur in the backyard and Mama treasures this last little bit of me like it is worth a million $$$

Be safe out there Pups, I'll be watching over you tonight!

Oh Pawlease! As if I needed a quiz to tell me I'm "all that"...BOL!!!! Okay fans, my celebrity lifestyle has been revealed and apparently that imposter Snoop Dogg has been copying me...let it roll dogg.........

Cisco Kid is Smooth & Cool

Swingin' hard and keeping it real in his 'hood, your little homey is Snoop Doggy Dogg, yo.

Bustin' out superfly vocals that keep his lady friends perched, ready and on the edge of their seats, Cisco Kid knows how to have a good time with his peeps and is not ashamed to show it. Okay, so me and my bestest pal Pappi are hanging around having a picnic in the daisy fields when all of a sudden we see lots of beautiful balloons coming down from the Rainbow....we run over to where they have landed and guess what? There was a pretty pink balloon with my name on it and inside was a letter from my Mama!!! This is what my letter said:

RAINBOW BRIDGE DAY - April 1, 2008

Bubba,

It hasn’t quite been a year since the last time we held each other yet I miss you like it was yesterday. I can still feel your paws around my neck and your sweet kisses all over my face! Your absence has been hard for me to bear sometimes so I am ever grateful to have so many photos of you and all of your old favorite toys. I have tried to smell your scent on some of your sweaters but the passing of these months have erased any chance of that. I have placed one of my favorite pictures of you on my office door for all to see with a poem in your honor.

Your adorable face and charming personality have been kept alive for all to see throughout the pages of Dogster.com – you have many new friends my love and through their generous hearts and support they have helped me to find peace and mend my broken heart. I still talk about you to friends, family and neighbors as if you never left and we laugh sometimes remembering how cute and friendly you were!

Cisco, you were the man in my life for 9 years and if there were ever a twosome that could be called soul-mates it was us…what a pair we were! You stole my heart from the moment I saw you and it will always belong to only you!

Be happy now at the Rainbow Bridge running and playing, and wait for me to come for you someday; that is my promise to you. I am enclosing this letter in a pink balloon in the hopes that it will reach you and you will know that I have not, nor will I ever forget you.

Love,
Mama

P.S. I see Pappi running towards me and he is waving a letter...looks like he got a balloon too!!!

What a WONDERFUL day!!!!!

Okay, I don't usually post in my diary too often, reserving my wit for personal pawmails only, but due to popular request I feel compelled to "let loose" in a public forum. As you may all well know by now I have crossed the great "unknown" (aka Rainbow Bridge) and come to you now from the other side. Just when you thought that shadow cast out of the corner of your eye was a figment of your imagination I am here to let you know that it was I, the one and only...Cisco Kid...aka: shadow dog and I have entered your dimension to see what you have been up to. And to think that you were in complete control when your owner left you alone for the day...NOT!!! I see you when you raid the fridge in search of last nights' KFC...oh, and don't think I don't know it when you drink from the toilet bowl...eewwwww!!!! How in the heck do you think I can afford all those zealies I send out each month...why yes, I am on the take and I trade secrets with your pawrents on a daily basis!!!! So beware pups, lest that shadow on the wall throws you under the bus....keep it clean and you won't have any worries....BOL...!!!

My Date with Miss Penny

Woo-Hoo, last night I went on a date with Miss Penny and we had a wonderful time. First I picked her up on my limo-cloud and the we hooked up with Jazzy-Angel, Bridget and Penny and we had a few pup-tini's . Then we rode around on my limo-cloud where I gave Miss Penny a pretty pink rose (thanks Sadie Mae for helping me out on that one). I took some pictures with my 3 Angels (thanks Daisy). Miss Penny looked so pretty and she was a lot of fun. We took a moonlit stroll through the liver treat forest where I stole a kiss from her....WOW, that roast beef flavored lip gloss is "off the charts". Miss Penny packed a little picnic basket with all my favorites like meat and cheese and she even had white chocolate biscuits...mmmm! All and all I think it is safe to say that I will be asking Miss Penny out on another date and I hope she accepts. I will miss her while she is in Mexico this week and hope she doesn't drink the water!!!!!

My Mama wrote this poem for me today, I hope you enjoy it.

A leaf on the wind, a cloud in the sky,
Recall you to mind my Little Guy.
A kiss on my nose, your breath was so sweet
In Heaven you wait till the day when we meet.
Your time here was short as all pups must go,
You live in my heart I hope that you know.
Some days are so long, some nights I do cry
You sit at the Bridge with wings now you fly.
Leaves blew today, clouds floated by,
Recalling once more, days of you and I.

I miss you so much Bubba...looking forward to the day when our eyes lock together once more!!!

Your Loving Mama

A New Year-2008

Well hello to all the pups out there. Last night was my very first real party at the Rainbow Bridge and I have to say it was a BLAST! We all got to put on our New Year's Eve party hats and then the fun began. One by one all the Angel Pups started showing up and we had pup-tini's, dog-a-rita's and purple popsicles filled with champagne. There were also plenty of Weedle Burgers to go around and lots of very, very pretty girl pups to kiss. I met a pretty little pup named Bridgette and she was my date for the evening. Sadie Mae was there and Remy and Candy and Brandi and Casey and Puppie and Jazzy-Angel and Carrie and Daisy and Pappi and Armbruster and Kayla and of course D-Day the MacDaddy and Beary was there and it was even Angel Runt and Samson's honeymoon night! Wow, what a great turn out and a super bunch of Furiends to spend New Year's Eve with. Since coming to the Bridge in August 2007 I have felt so bad for my Mama because she couldn't seem to get over my leaving. In the past few weeks Mama has seen how much fun I am having and is finally letting go of her sadness and is opening up to my new baby sister Jewels. I'm sooooo happy for Mama and I'm soooo happy to be at The Bridge with such sweet pals.

Happy New Year and licks to each and every one of you!!!

I Believe

Every now and then soft as breath upon my skin
I feel you come back again
And its like you haven’t been gone a moment from my side
Like the tears were never cried
Like the hands of time are holding you and me
And with all my heart I’m sure were closer than we ever were
I don’t have to hear or see, I’ve got all the proof I need
There are more than angels watching over me
I believe, I believe

That when you die your life goes on
It doesn’t end here when you’re gone
Every soul is filled with light
It never ends and if I’m right
Our love can even reach across eternity
I believe, I believe

Forever, you’re a part of me
Forever, in the heart of me
And I'll hold you even longer if I can
The people who don’t see the most
Say that I believe in ghosts
And if that makes me crazy, then I am
cause I believe

There are more than angels watching over me
I believe, I believe

My Christmas Eve Visit

December 27th 2007 7:58 am

After being away from Mama for 5 months I got to visit her in her sleep on Christmas Eve. All the little Angel Pups at the Bridge were each given one visit to be with our favorite person for a little while. After Mama went to sleep I crept into her bedroom to watch her sleeping and then I snuggled up to her and guess what she had...my favorite bunny that I had since I was a baby! Mom rarely takes this toy out because she wants to keep it in good condition to remember me forever. I used to sleep with the bunny cause I was afraid of the dark and I would hide under the bunny's ears for protection. When I got bigger I would drag bunny all around the house but since bunny was bigger than me I would always trip over the long ears...Mama would laugh everytime!!! Sometimes Mama takes bunny out of the closet and trys to smell me on him...I think my scent is fading cause sometimes I see Mama looking sad. At least I made her happy with my visit; I can't wait until next Christmas Eve when I get to visit her again in her bed...I hope she knows that I'm watching over her and my new sister Jewels.
