My Gotcha Day Story

It's really just blind luck that I ended up at my furever home; here's the story:

A few months after Mom lost her beloved Cisco Kid she felt empty and lost and wanted another furbaby to love. Mom had her heart set on getting another Chi but when she got to the shelter they didn't have any. One of the Shelter workers told Mom that they just brought in a very cute 8 month old Maltese (me). Well, Mom wasn't interested one bit..hrmph...she really wanted a Chihuahua but the Shelter worker was very persuasive and Mom agreed to take a peek at me. Mom thought I was cute and sweet but I was so dirty and matted that I knew there was no way she was going to pick me! Well, in a pinch I decided that I had better show her my "stuff" so I sat in front of her, wagged my tail super fast and lifted up my paw for her. I think I saw Mom's eyes start to leak when she looked down at me...prolly cause she felt more sorry for me than a desire to take me home. Mom went ahead and put her name on the list to adopt me but I needed to stay in the Shelter for a week to see if anyone claimed me. In the meantime Mom kept searching for a Chi and after a week the Shelter called her to ask if she wanted me. Mom said she would come back and look at me again and I went with her into a play area and I really poured on the charm...well Mom agreed to adopt me that day but I had to get fixed before I could go home with her (yeowch!).

Mom picked me up at the Vet the very next day but she didn't recognize me cause the Vet had me shaved down to the skin...I looked UGLY!!!! Mom just stared at me and I think I saw her eyes leaking again...another pity look..hrmph! Mom was thinking that she was getting a pretty Maltese with long hair that she could wash and comb and put bows in; boy did she get a surprise..bol!!!

I looked horrible for about 4 months and then one day a miracle happened...my hair started to grow longer and Mom was able to put a ponytail on my head and I got to wear my very first bow! I looked so pretty and from that day on I was her little princess...the rest is history!!!!

Holy Guacamole!!!!

Today I was honored by my pals over at S.T.A.F.U.. (Shih Tzu & Friends United) to be their Dog of the Month!!! I am still pinching myself black & blue in total disbelief over this great award!!! This is definitely my favorite group and the one I pawticipate in on a regular basis...what a wonderful group of sweethearts and caring furs! The Admin Group at S.T.A.F.U. works very hard to make this a fun and interesting group and one in which I am very proud to be a member of.

I want to thank all of you from the bottom of by big paws to the top of my ponytail and send out a great BIG kiss to all of you....MUAH!!!

Streets of Bakersfield

Okay, so it's been a long time since Dwight Yokhum actually walked the streets of Bakersfield but I was lucky enough (?) to visit my Grandma Annie and Aunt Suzy this weekend in Bak-O. Aunt Suzy took me to Target and bought me a new super cute little blow-up pool w/canapy.....I'm a California gal so naturally I take to the water like a fish! She also surprised me with a red bikini (rated PG...no thong)...it wasn't Cynthia Rawley but it was a close imposter...BOL!!!

My little furcousin Lucy Lu was there; it took Lucy Lu a good day to get used to having another "Princess" in the house but she got over it and we had lots of fun together. We went for walks around the neighborhood and I was a good girl and didn't try to pull Mama into the bushes...heeheehee! Grandma Annie spoiled us with hugs and kisses and way too many treats, not that I'm complaining but it's bikini weather and...well....you know!

All in all it was a fun weekend on the streets of Bakersfield!!!

I AM LOVED!!!!

Oh My Goodness, where shall I start..!! Today I received a package from my bestest furiend in the whole world....Logan. Inside were many beautiful gifts for my hair and for my collar. I got 2 beautiful diamond barrettes for my hair and 3 gorgeous charms for my collar! I also received a super cool magnet that Mama stole from me to put up on something called a fridge...I'm not sure what that is but I do know that lots of yummy treats come out of it...BOL!!!!

I think Logan may be my true love so I am taking it very slow to make sure he feels the same way about me. Logan lives in Indiana and I live in California and I hope that some day my family can go and meet Logan and his family!

Awwww....it feels so good to know that somefur cares about me as much as Logan does.....aaahhhhhh....

What a Dawg Day it was!!!!

WOW!!! Did I ever make it through the strangest day today! First thing this a.m. Mama takes me outside to go potty...it's kinda foggy with little visibility...so there I am sniffing around for the perfect spot to, you know...ahem...when I hear Mama calling me to come back inside. I go back in the house and I hear something strange in the backyard so I start to growl...Mama looks out the bedroom window and right smack in our backyard are two (2) HUGE coyotes lick'n their choppers!!!!! I was actually outside and they were waiting for me....Mama ran outside and scared those bums off our property and then she heaved a big *sigh* of relief!!! My furbro Cisco Kid was killed on our property 7 months ago by some coyotes and Mama had a flashback to that dreadfull night (poor Mama).

Anyhoo, Mama takes me with her later on to the Home Depot and I'm riding along in the cart with my leash teathered to the cart and I see a really nice lady that might want to pet me so what do I do? That's right, I jumped from the cart and GASP!!!!!! I hung myself!!!!! There I was just a-swinging away by my neck from the shopping cart....you should have seen the look on my Mama's face...sheer horror....!!! I tell you, I am 15 lbs of sheer t-r-o-u-b-l-e. Luckily my neck and throat were okay so Mama adjusted my leash so I only had about 2 inches to move about *pout*. Mama is seriously thinking of getting me a stroller so I can be enclosed but still be able to peek through a screen and pop my head out.

I'm telling you, how in the heck did I make it through this day?!

My Furbro is acting weird....

Okay, my furbro Cisco Kid has been acting really strange lately (strange for him) so I snuck a peak at this last diary entry post 03/07/08 to see if I could get to the bottom of these strange goings on. AHA...just has I suspected...it appears that the sweet and loving Cisco Kid may have been brainwashed by alien lifeforms and come back as a spy! I have been seeing shadows on the walls and Mama knows everything I have been up to lately...Harumph..this is got to STOP! I read that my furbro has been corresponding to a General Beaureguard aka Beau so perhaps the General can shed some light....below is my paw-lea to him to help me...

General B, you must come to my aid immediately (if not sooner), it appears that someone (or something) has taken the place of my dearly departed furbro Cisco. The last time he was acting like himself I heard him shouting something that sounded like "beam me up scotty" and the next thing I know I'm seeing shadows on the wall!!! Mama seems to know everything I have been up to lately and I can't seem to get a darn thing past her. I fear my furbro may have been abducted by aliens of some sort or perhaps his molecules were crossed with another lifeform during his last hyperlink into the unkown??!!! I simply must find out what is happening....I've practically gnawed my paws to the nub....pawlease help General, you're my only hope....Oooohhh, I gotta go, I see a shadow on the wall....eeerrrrghghhahahh..........

Ferris Bueller-Dog's Day Off...

OMD, what a surprise I had this morning....my good furpal/boyfriend Cody from across the street took it upon himself to go A.W.O.L and came over to my house to play! Cody likes to escape every now and again and roam our neighborhood...BTW our "hood" is very rural so no worries about the nasty ole dog catcher comin around! Good thing Mama was out back doin some gardening because she opened the gate and let Cody in. We had loads of fun chasing each other and Cody got my tennis ball all yucky with Retriever slobber...eeewwww!!! Mama got the camera out and snapped a few for my photobook so take a peek of you get a chance....I'm the white dog...BOL!!!!

Drawback of being a White Princess.....

Okay, here I am again, Miss Jewels coming at ya with the latest of my hair woes....this morning Mama let me go outside while she fed our horse. Well of course I had try and dig under the fence because she shut the gate in my face and just didn't realize that I too wanted to go out with the horse! Anyhoo, I tried and I tried to dig my way under the fence but I only managed to dirty up my pretty little (mom says Big) white paws. When I tried to go in the house Mama just grabbed me and tossed me in the master bath while she took her morning shower! You'll never guess what she did next....that's right, she opened the shower stall door, picked me up by my scruff (how rude!) and put me in the shower with her!!!!!! OMD....the water was warm but it was still water for Pete sake!!!!! I had to hold up each paw while Mama cleaned off all of the mud and dirt that took me soooooooo long to acquire...when she was done she just opened that door back up and out I was tossed....HARUMPH!!! Is there a lawyer in the house???!! I NEVER!!!!

I Got Tagged for Valentine's Day

My First Ponytail

Oh Gosh!! Today Mama gave me my very first ponytail and I think I look sooooo cute! Ever since Mom adopted me from the pound a few months ago my hair has been growing out (had to have it all shaved at the vet) and it has always been to short to make a ponytail. Well, today was my official first ponytail day and I was a good girl and held still while Mom put that thing called a stretchie tie on my head. I tried to shake it loose a couple of times but finally gave up when Mom distracted me with a toy. I hope this thing doesn't give me a headache...BOL... Maybe Mom will take me shopping to get some of those cute little barrettes that I see the other pups wearing.

Missing my brother

Today Mama has been missing my brother Cisco Kid. He went to the Bridge on August 9, 2007 and Mama has been grieving real bad over him. She adopted me from a Shelter a few months ago and brought me back to health and has made me feel like a princess. I know I have some pretty big paws to fill as Mama and Cisco were inseperable. Today Mama let me lick her tears away, something she hasn't let me do before and has allowed me to have some of Cisco's toys to play with. Every day I feel Mama opening up to me more and more and realizes that I don't want to take his place but only to find a new place in her heart right next to his.
