Arrival Story:
i got maude from the houston spca. she was part of a massive puppy-mill raid in which over 200 dogs were rescued. maude was one of the breeders--she probably had at least three litters, if not four. when i first took her home she was filthy and flea-ridden. she wouldn't look me in the eye, she wouldn't come over to me, and she would run and hide if i moved toward her. i think she'd been in a cage for most of her life. maude's improved rapidly since then, though. she's housetrained, she walks on a leash, and she loves to be petted. she's learned to trust and love my family, a few of my friends, and especially me. her tail is always wagging.
