I WAS A STRAY, MY MAMA FOUND WANDERING AROUND NEAR THE TENSAS RIVER IN THE SWAMPS OF CENTRAL LOUISIANA..... THIS IS THE STORY MY MAMA TELLS ABOUT HOW SHE SAVED MY LIFE WHEN SHE RESCUED ME...
The first time I saw her she was just wandering around, her hair was so long and matted that you couldnt even tell there was a dog underneath it all. I picked her up regardless of all the dirt and how bad she smelled and hugged her close to me, when I did she pressed her cheek against mine and just snuggled me, I knew I had found my best friend.
Once getting Hannah home, I groomed her and made her all pretty, but as the days went by of us getting to know each other I noticed a odor about her and no matter what I did I couldnt clear it up, so I took her to the vet and she ran several test on her. Hannah was diagnosed with red mange caused from neglect and malnutrition. I was devastated, thinking that I was about to lose her when I had just found her (and of course I was attached from the first huggle we had). However the vet assured me that since she was spayed and heartworm free there was a cure. So after the treatment period she is now healthy and beautiful. She has been thru alot with me, a divorce, we have moved about 5 times in as many years, from Louisiana to Alabama to various places here in Florida,we have watched my kids grow up and get lives of their own, shared the arrival of the grandkids, laid her head on my shoulder as we both have grieved in our own ways the passing of our precious Tinker, we have been together for all the ups and downs that life has thrown at us. She is now 19 years old, and I call her my old woman, she is the matriarch of the house/family, my bestest friend in the whole wide world.
SO THERE YA HAVE IT...IM SO NOT A STRAY NO MORE. I AM JUST LITTLE OLE SOUTHERN BELLE ME, THAT LIVES A LIFE OF LEISURE AND TOTAL COMFORT.
