 Nicknames: Kiki, Maverick

Arrival Story: Kiara was adopted from the pound and I treated her and helped her through heartworms. She's a big, beautiful, happy girl now and looking for a new home with people to love her forever!

Bio: Kiara loves our two shih-tzus - they are calm and respect her. HOWEVER, she does NOT like over-active bigger dogs. My labrador Chewie desperately wants to play with her but he is just TOO wild for her and she actually attacks and bites him! PLEASE do not let this dog be alone with another, wilder dog by themselves! She is too aggressive with them!
Kiara likes cats alright - but if you tell her "go get her!" when a cat's around, she will chase the cat but will not hurt the cat. She just likes to play!
Kiara is house trained.
Kiara is crate-trained.
Kiara requires a home with a fenced yard.
Kiara LOVES children, attention and being with her people.

Hello! I've been pretty good this year... I've learned to tell someone when I need to go outside and I'm behaving better too! I have written down a few things that I would like for christmas. I don't want to write too many things because I know you have so many other dogs to visit on christmas eve, so here are a few:
1) A big, juicy meat bone
2. Treats!
3. More blankets for my bed
4. A dog run
That's really all I can think of for now. I can't wait until christmas!
xoxo

I was adopted last April, 2007 from a pound. My new owner found me on the internet the day I was added and I almost wasn't even adopted by her! Her father went to see me and maybe five minutes later, a woman was going to adopt me because she had just lost her old dog that looked just like me! But my owner came and loved me to death! Unfortunatly I was so matted that they had to to shave me down to a lion cut and I was as fat as a hippo! My new owner put me on a dieting food and now I've lost a few pounds but still LOVE to eat! I'de eat all day if I could, but of course the other dogs need to eat too. I don't think they liked me very much at first but then warmed up to me and we like each other. I always like to pretend I'm a shih-tzu and want them to play with me, but they're not very playful. My owner sometimes wrestles with me and runs me up and down the driveway every day! (we have a long driveway)
The family got a new kitten soon after adopting me and I just LOVE her! We're always playing chase and I give ehr lots of kisses (she doesn't mind). I'm a brilliant guard dog, I keep my owner in particular safe from strangers and strange bigger dogs. I also like to hunt, run, pull things like a husky and, of course, guard things.
I hope I'm not too much trouble for my people, after all, I like to run away when I get out the door without a leash. I just don't know my limits yet but I hope to learn soon! One time, I got away in the neighborhood and ran very very far. My owner couldn't catch up but when I finally stopped and saw her tear-stained face I went back to her and licked her, as if to tell her that I was sorry and that I'm right there with her now. Of course, I escaped and ran after that too and some quite dangerous for my owner, but I'm safe and sound in my crate now, surrounded by people that love me.
If you have any tips or comments for my training (as I only know sit and speak) then please don't hesitate to let me know! I'm welcome to any suggestions!
