Arrival Story:
We met Frosty's mom and his two fur siblings in the Kmart parkinglot down the street from our house. Turns out her son is in the military and was transfered because he is getting ready to ship out. She is on the list for base housing, and is living in a tent at the base campground until she gets approved. The base will only let you have two dogs, and she does not want to get rid of one of her dogs, so she has been praying for someone to help her out and foster Frosty until she can get a place of her own. My husband and I have decided to foster Frosty, so he will be staying with us until she is able to get a place of her own. Frosty found his forever home in December of 2008. His owner's name is Dot, and she loves him very much. Frosty feels the same way about her, and I know that Frosty will be forever loved.

Bio:
Frosty Rudolph has two fur siblings- both Chihuahuas as well. Frosty was bought from a breeder around Christmas time, so that is why his name is Frosty Rudolph. Frosty's owner, Dot gave us the news that Frosty passed away on 8/22/10. Frosty will be forever missed, and he will always hold a special place in our hearts.

Adopt 09 Contest- I finally have my forever home!

What a happy ending to such a long story. This story is basically a continuation of my 08 story, but it gets even better. Please take a look at my Adopt 08 story so you know what happened to me from the beginning.

Here is the continuation:

I had been living with my foster mom for almost 1 year. It was November of 2008. I was still getting to see Brindle and Chi Chi every week along with my other mom, so life was very good for me.

Towards the end of November, my foster mom got a call that her grandma died, so she had to go up North for 2 weeks for the funeral. My foster daddy had been having some health problems, and she did not want to leave me at the house with the other dogs (she said it would be too much stress for him at the time).

My foster mom contacted my real mom and explained the situation to her. My real mom got permission from the building where she stays to have me with her for 2 weeks. This meant that I would get to see Brindle and Chi Chi for an extended stay! Yea!

The first day that I was back at the building, an elderly friend of hers named Dot- who also lives at the building saw me, and fell in love with me right there. Dot is 86 and lives by herself- her husband is in a nursing home. Dot asked if I could spend the night with her, and of course my real mom agreed.

Well, I spent the night with Dot, and I have not left since. Dot adopted me! She fell in love with me the moment she saw me, and I fell in love with her too! I am now a therapy dog- I get to go to the nursing home with her and visit my new daddy along with all the other patients, and they all just love me. I sleep with Dot every night, and I get one of the expensive brands of dog food now. I have my own doggie stroller, and I get groomed every week. My new mom Dot spoils me, and I love every moment of it.

Dot says that I am the one who keeps her going every day. Her grown children say that aside from her husband, I am the best thing that ever happened to her.

For me adoption has taken on an even deeper meaning. People in your life will come and go, but it is not often that you will find three families that love you and want the best for you. I still get to see my original mom and my foster mom quite often. Had it not been for them and their dedication to finding me the perfect home, I might not have made it.

I think about all those other dogs that are waiting for a home and waiting for a chance to be loved like I am, and I realize that the world needs more people like all three of my moms. Each of my moms- my 1st mom, my foster mom, and Dot have played an equally important part in my life and in finding me my forever home. And for that, I thank all three of them.

Hi Pups!

What does adoption mean to me? I have thought alot about this question, and I am now ready to answer. I have quite a unique living situation right now, and if it hadn't been for being in the right place at the right time, I don't know where I would be right now! I am going to tell everyone my wonderful story!

My story started off last year in the beginning of December. My mom's son is in the military, and he had to leave to go on a big boat for about 4 years. Because of this, we had to move from our comfortable spot. When I say we, I mean my mom, me, and my two chihuahua sisters, Brindle and Chi Chi. We moved to Jacksonville, FL. Because we officially did not have a home yet, we had to stay in a tent at a campground on the miliatry base in Jacksonville. This tent was to become our home for about three months.

My mom applied for hud, and because of her situation, she was moved to the top of the list. There are rules with hud, however. One of those rules is only one dog. Because my mom is handicapped and one of the dogs is a service dog, she would be allowed to have two dogs. Well, that still left one of us with no place to go. That someone was me!

Mom and I have been together for 8 years, and mom could not imagine giving me up. She had already called 4 rescue organizations, and all of them say I would have to go away and mom would never be able to see me again. Mom was getting depressed at this point.

One night in early December, mom took me and my sisters to K-mart to look for something. As she was coming back out to the car, another lady was walking out of the store and heard us barking. Turns out she loves dogs, and has two dogs of her own. She asked my mom if those were her dogs. Of course, she said they were, and then this lady came over to meet us.

The lady told mom how much she loves dogs and that she volunteers for a rescue organization. She told mom that she ocasionally has foster dogs in her home until they are adopted. When mom heard this, she told the lady our story- how she is only going to be able to keep two dogs, and that she didn't want to give any of us up. She said it would be me that would need to be fostered because she did not want to separate my sisters (they are from the same litter).

It took the lady about half an hour to go home, talk to her husband about the situation, and call my mom back to tell her that I had a home! I have now been living with my new mom for about 5 months now, and I am such a lucky dog! Instead of having one family, I now have two families! My new mom and dad have two miniature pinschers, Raven and Cappone. I get along really well with them. Then I also have my real mom and sisters. I get to see them and visit with them every week. Sometimes, Raven and Cappone go with me, and we all get to play together! Mom says I will stay with my new family until the time comes when she can find a place where she can have all of us again. I don't mind, because having two families means that I am extra spoiled!

So, what does adoption mean to me? It means that you have a wonderful new home with a loving family who cares about you very much, who takes care of your every need, and a family who spoils you constantly and gives you everything that your little heart desires. In my case, I am extra lucky, because not only do I have my new family, I still have my original family too! That means everything to me to be able to have two families that love and spoil you! If we had not been at K-mart that day back in December, or if that lady had not been there, I don't know where I would be right now, so I am not going to think about that. I will just concentrate on my wonderful new life that includes two families that I love and that I know will always be there for me!

Wags and Licks to everyone,
Frosty Rudolph
