Arrival Story: Hi, my name is Pepper and I am the new guy here. I was in a really bad place before I came here. Lots of other doggies all barking loud and the smell - whew - let me tell you. The ladies that fed me tried to take care of me, but there were so many of us, they didn't have time to take me for long walks or cuddle with me like my people did. There was no sofa with pillows for my arm, no comfy bed either. I don't know why I was there or what happened to my people. You see, I was a family pet no long ago. Something bad happened to my people, and they went away, I think to a bridge or somewhere. I've heard that I will see them again, someday.
My new mommy called this stinky place where I was staying. She wanted a doggy pal for her big dog. But the one she asked about was adopted and went 100 miles away with another mommy. Another doggy she asked about was already taken too. That was because I was supposed to be HERS.
I know this, because, you see, a few days before I left with my new mommy, I heard the ladies with the food talking. They wanted to take my picture because I only had a few days left. ALRIGHT! I was getting out!
But it didn't happen that day, or the next. Then they said I had one day left. That day arrived and it was getting late. If I only had one day left, then where was I going? Nobody came for me and it was down to a couple of hours. I was starting to panic. Finally, someone was coming. Some others dogs went with them, but they just wrote something on my card and left. I never saw the ones that left with them after that. I think they weren't coming back because the ladies looked so sad.
The next day, there was barking , like someone was coming. Maybe, hopefully, they were coming for me. Oh I was nervous. I hoped to be just as cute as I know I can be, but sometimes I have a problem with balance. I have bionic legs in back but my right front leg is missing. I have a nub. It is hard to get up sometimes on the slick concrete that was in my cell. The girl opened the door. There were two ladies with her. They were looking at me!
The girl slipped the lead over my head and pulled. Oh no! That was not good. I fell forward. She pulled again and I slid across the floor on my chest. I was trying to get up, but she kept pulling me. The other lady told the one pulling me to wait. She bent over to help me. Oh PLEASE let this be my new mommy!
The other lady pulled at the lead again. I stumbled and fell. The nice one picked me up, called me a sweet baby seal-pup and carried me outside in her arms. I was in love.
Bio: Hi this is Pepper's mommy. When I think of Pepper's story, or read it here, I still cry. How anyone could have sent him to the pound, I don't know. I heard his person passed away. I know Pepper belonged to someone. He didn't live this long hopping down the road being a stray.
Pepper was originally a foster with me. I was going to find him a good home. After five months, Pepper has a home.
The Pepper-man will not want for anything. He will always have enough food, a good bed, stay in the warm house and be loved to pieces. Pepper will not be going anywhere. He is staying. I can not let him go. It would be too hard on Pepper, on me and on Wilson. We would all be lonesome for each other. Pepper is home.

I've Been On Dogster Since:
I luvs to sit with Mama in the big chair! I luvs to breathe on her face and when she turns her head, I flop over to lay in her arms so I can look up at her and breathe on her face!
Mama knows I sit like humans do, and she lets me sit in the big chair with her like that. She put a picture of me sitting on the sofa in the special way that I sit - not like the others. I'm special - almost like humans with 2 legs.
Why won't she let me sleep in the big chair, too? I try every night, but she tells me to go to Pepper bed. Oh well, I have a special bed, not a crate like the others. I won't go into a crate and you can't make me! I sleeps next to my sweet Trina Belle.
Hey, I heard there is a thing called the Bow Wow Vows planned soon. Ya' think I should ask Trina Belle to walk the aisle with me?
Pepper hurt! Pepper hurt nub & 2 legs. Pepper just have 3 legs! Pepper hurt!
It was nice day, we play outside. Play rough! Turned on magic water from wall! Roll in water & dirt. Pepper stumble, trip, fell or something. Got cut on flowerpot and scratches on legs. Back leg hurt, swell up. Pepper can't walk.
Mama please take baby Pepper to dr. man to make better - after dr. man hurt Pepper more - but dr. man make better.
Mama here, came home from work Tuesday afternoon to find Pepper laying on the porch, unable to get up. He had dried mulch on him, dried blood on his legs, and the water was turned on at the hydrant on the house.
Don't really know what happened. All the dogs must have come around the corner and hit the water hydrant, turning it on. Then turned over the concrete planter, spilling and breaking the clay flower pots. Pepper was cut and scratched, looks like he sprained his ankel too.
Took a few wet towels to get the dried mulch washed off in order to find the hurt places. Took a few more wet towels to wash off enough dried to see how badly hurt. The sprain looks like it is the worst part.
Pepper got up during Wed. night and moved from the kitchen to the sunroom. Pee'd on the garbage can on the way. That is okay, I'm glad he finally went to the bathroom.
Poor Pepper. Can't afford to have a hurt leg when he is already leg challenged.
Taffy has a scratch too, inside her back leg on her thigh.
It began raining Tues night and has been almost steady since then.
OK, I know, I'm an old guy - but it has been one year since I began my new life with my mommy! and she loves me so very much. Don't tell the others, but I'm her favorite - ssshhhh!
I have heard that we are having a party next weekend! A special day, just for me, called Thanks-giving! because my mommy is sssoo thankful that she found me!
