Quick Bio:

May 15th 2007

loves to go for walks and eat deer poop, loves to wrestle with Dudley the cat, loves to eat, loves to chew, loves to ride in the Miata with the top down so his ears flap in the wind ... loves the UPS man because he leaves a biscuit with each package ...

The two mean neighbor dogs that bark at him when we walk past

Favorite Toy:
He has a few; a rope ball, a gnawed-to-pieces Wham-A-Ham, bison bones from the neighborhood pet store, shoes, glasses, the TV remote ... for some reason, he adores ripping dryer sheets to bits and leaving the pieces all over the house

Favorite Food:
Can he eat it? It's his favorite ..

Favorite Walk:
Loves to walk on the golf course behind our house and chase the deer ...

Best Tricks:
Tricks? He don't got to do no steekin' tricks ... does love to watch NASCAR and a big Longhorns fan .. can do Gimme Five, sit, down and off with the proper encouragement (treats), he also lets us know he has to go pee by ringing a bell on the front door

Arrival Story:
After our Westie passed, we decided to wait until I retired to look for a new dog. We decided on a beagle, and found Shiner at a breeder in the middle of nowhere, Texas. Brought him home and he immediately fit in, wrestling with Dudley, our big grey cat, eating anything not nailed down and generally becoming a great part of our family. Where'd he get his name? Well, if you live in Texas, you know Shiner beer. We couldn't think of a name until we sat down with a couple of cold ones and it came to us in a frosty vision.

You can say any foolish thing to a dog, and the dog will give you a look that says, 'Wow, you're right! I never would've thought of that!'

Forums Motto:
Bad dog, Shiner!

The most expensive things your beagle has chewed…

Shiner's been through two obedience classes, was practically expelled from both ... like most beagles, he has a mind of his own and a determination to have his own way ... he has vowed to sniff every blade of grass, rock and tree on every walk we take, which means you have to set aside an hour to go half a mile.
