Arrival Story:
lucie was adopted from the north shore animal league on september 11, 2003. despite being criminally cute and exceptionally sweet, she was a hard-to-adopt dog and had lived her entire adolescent & adult life in shelters. she had a few serious behavior problems, most of which were related to her fear-aggressive and resource guarding tendencies. fortunately for her, she LOVES obedience training and will do anything for a treat! since she wasn't willing to give up, neither were we.

Bio:
now, lucie is a joint custody dog. she lives in brooklyn for part of the year and in massachusetts during the remaining months, so that she can get the maximum love and attention possible from her extended adoptive family. she is clicker trained and loves to learn new tricks -- that is, when she's not wrestling with other dogs. and after eight months of hard work and remedial behavior modification, she passed her canine good citizenship test -- even though she could only walk on three legs at the time! now that she has been with us for four years, she has mellowed out a lot into a happy, agreeable dog. she loves to travel and makes friends wherever she goes. even, occasionally, with cats!
