In case you are wondering, mom had to put an e-collar on me because I have a small cut on my right front leg. It started to heal but it was itchy and I kept licking and chewing. So the vet gave us some ointment to put on but I licked that off too.
Finally mom had to put this hidious thing on me. I hate it but mom said that was for my own good, or my leg wil never heal.
BUT I HATE IT!!! :(

Thanks for tagging me Angel! Pup Pals are so cool!
Alright Pals! You made it here. I see you caught my foot ball pass. Here is what you should do next! Hurry and pass the ball to 5 of your team mates so they can make a touch down. You are also supposed to write down 5 things about yourself that are funny. Also please leave me a bone and ask all those who visit your diary to leave you a bone so you will know they have been there! Ok…Here goes the play!
1.) I can walk on my hind legs like people
2.) I love barking at dad's rake! He has to put me inside to do the yard work!
3.) The leaf blower is my enemy - I must terminate it
4.) I am a toy horder - I pee with my frisbee in my mouth - so Snowy can't steal it
5.) Mom says I am a drama queen. I have so many different variations of bark, howl, whine and growl to express myself!
Here are my five Pup Pals that I'm tagging:
1. Lady Bird
2. Skyler
3. Benjamin Black Jack
4. Tanner
5. Moo-Shoe
Have fun guys! Pup Pals are so cool! I love y'all!

I went to a dog show with mom and Snowy. Normally it's just Snowy and mom - but she thought it would be fun for me, because there was a dock diving mini-seminar and friendly dock diving competitions open to all dogs.
As she always did with Snowy, she brought a soft collapsible crate. She parked the car under nice shady trees and opened all the windows and the tail gate - so the nice breeze would keep me cool and comfy. Except, I didn't like being left alone when Snowy was having fun with mom.
I whined and cried for a minute then started inspecting the crate. It was made of canvas and the sturdy vinyl mesh. The door was made of heavy duty zipper and she tied the metal fasteners together for extra precaution. Well - obviously she under estimated my ability as an escape artist.
I ripped open the mesh window on the side with my strong teeth, then tore it open wide enough to get through. Then I crawled out of the crate and jumped out of the truck. "A piece of cake!"
Wow! I loved what I saw. So many people and so many dogs - mainly white dogs like Snowy and Faith. How exciting! Then I saw a little boy smiling at me - so I decided to give him a bath with my tongue (I love little kids - they are the best!!!) Then I heard someone screaming:
"A LOOSE DOG-----WHO HAS A BLACK AND TAN GERMAN SHEPHERD?"
I saw mom by the show ring with Snowy - she heard the scream and turned toward me - then her eyes opened very wide and her face became beet red…. Oh oh I am spotted!
She came running to me and told me to stop licking the little boy - he wasn't MY little boy. (I knew that - but I didn't really care - I like all little kids)
Mom took me back to the truck and she was puzzled because the crate door was still intact….until she inspected the side of it. I guess she didn't like what I did. This time she put me in the truck and rolled up the windows high enough so I couldn't escape. I had to sit on the passenger seat and watched my world passing by until mom came to get me for the dock diving seminar.
The next day, she got smart and brought a metal crate with her instead. So much for the adventure. Dock diving was ok but I liked exploring the show on my own much better.

Over the weekend, we went to Stony Creek Metro Park to attend “Bark in the Park”, a fund raiser event for dog rescue organization. We saw lots of other dogs and sampled some people food.
But the highlight of the day was when we learned that the park had opened up the section of the beach for us pups! (Normally we are not allowed on the beach)
Mom and dad took the opportunity and cut us loose. It was great. The lake is so big – gazillion times bigger than my pool! Snowy and I chased each other, and another shepherd and a pit bull pup joined us in the chase. We had a blast!
Then mom came up with a game with her water bottle. She threw it in the water and I had to swim out and brought it back – sort of a fetch in the water. We did this so many times that I was so exhausted.
On the way home Snowy and I both fell asleep – well, tired pups are happy pups!

Mom had gone off to the Dog Show with Snowy and left us with Dad. I didn't really mind. I love playing frisbee with Dad. Besides Dad likes to eat in front of the TV on the couch, and if we stare at him long enough, he would share with us whatever he is eating!
It was Sunday morning and it was the time to go to the agility class. Dad and I were heading to the garage and I decided to do a zoomie one more time....just as Dad shut the door.
I felt a shooting pain on my front paw and yelped-- like I never yelped before. Dad opened the door quickly and checked my sore paw. No blood but really painful and I was limping. He said he was sorry - I knew he was. He didn't see me trying to go back in the house when he closed the door!
So instead of the agility class, dad took me to the animal hospital. There I was checked and everything was ok. By the time I left the hospital, I wasn't limping anymore. We missed the agility class though.
Instead Dad took me to Dairy Queen to make me feel better. I am not supposed to tell mom about this but you know I can't keep secrets from her.

It was raining earlier in the morning but it stopped just in time for the agility class. As we always do on Sunday mornings, mom and I got in the truck and headed for the class (leaving daddy, human babies, Snowy and Faith still sleeping. Lazy bones!!!)
The course was still pretty wet so we had to slow down on the A-frame and cat walk. The rest wasn't too bad. My favorite, as always, were jumps. I was pretty excited and running too fast for poor mom to keep up. I thought I heard a thump but I was in the middle of the jump.
When I turned around, I saw mom flat on her back! Apparently she slipped on the wet grass and fell on her back. I heard people walking up to her and saying "are you ok?"
She slowly got up, brushing off wet debris off her backside. She was ok but quite embarassed. She was such a good sport though. She let me finish the class even though her pants were wet and very uncomfortable.
Thanks Mom, I love you!

Mom was still thinking about the fate of our canine hero Rocky - when she came across a show called Dogs with Jobs. This episode was about Military Working Dog in Vietnam and his handler.
As you can imagine they had built a strong bond. The former canine handler was in tears when he was painfully recalling the day he had to leave Saigon without his canine partner - back then a handler and his dog did not transfer together. He had to leave his dog in Vietnam.
He did not know what happend to his dog. All he knew was he perished in Vietnam like all MWDs in those days. There was no parade nor heros's welcome for MWDs. If they had survised the war, they were euthanized at the end. No dogs came home to the US.
What a sad and shameful way to treat our heroes. More reason why we should take care of Rocky and make sure he has a happy retirement.
Mom got a little emotional and she was in tears and I got worried. I don't like to see her sad. I licked her tears off her face. She gave me a hug and she held me for a long time.
In a lighter note, dad slow-grilled baby back ribs for 2 1/2 hours. The aroma was killing me! Mom gave me some meat off the ribs. Ummm Yummy!
We sat and watched fireworks from the front porch. Happy 4th of July everyone!

I received an e-mail from CPT Cleary, thanking for the enormous amount of e-mails he received in support of Rocky.
He is certain that he had enough people offering for help, that he would be able to find a home for Rocky. So please do not forward his request for help to anyone else. He will not be able to read or respond to all of them.
I am so moved by how caring and loving you pups are. Thanks, you guys rock!!!!!
Sasha
-------------------------------------- -----------
First, let me say, "Thank you!" to all of you who have shown your appreciation for Rocky's service and your willingness to help. I must say, I am truly overwhelmed and moved by the amount of e-mails I have received (over 30 in one day) with the intent of saving Rocky's life and either finding or personally providing him a good home.
I also want to apologize for sending out a mass e-mail to all of you, but due the the sheer number of people who wrote and people who were CC'd, I wouldn't have enough time to respond to everyone individually.
I just heard from Rocky's handler today. He has been busy in-processing back to his unit in Germany. Rocky is waiting for his vet examination and based on that, they will determine what they will do as far as Rocky's career. He may be retired or he may remain on duty as a MWD on the base for a period of time before he is retired. His handler is very grateful for all the support and willingness to help as well.
That being said, I will send out another e-mail to all of you once I have an update from his handler.
I would also like to respectfully ask that my original e-mail and any other requests to help Rocky not be forwarded to any additional people, as I am sure that from the e-mails I have already read that we will be able to find Rocky a good home through direct adoption or placement. I was not expecting such a tidal wave of support and I honestly will not have the time to respond to people if I continue to receive this amount of e-mails on a daily basis.
Once again, I cannot thank you enough for your quick response and willingness to help. It's good to know there are so many people like all of you out there.
I will contact you all once I receive an update about Rocky's situation.
Very respectfully,
Jared
P.S. I will send pics with the update.

There is no Independence Day celebration if it wasn't for the soldiers. All gave some, some gave all.
What an honor to be able to assist one of the heroes on this Independence Day.
If you know of anyone who could assist Rocky, please contact CPT Cleary at jared.l.cleary@us.army.mil. Let’s not have Rocky give all.

Greetings from Iraq!
I am sending this e-mail to see if there is any interest in helping a MWD
(military working dog) who has served his country and risked his life in
Operation Iraqi Freedom.
MWD Rocky is a German Shepherd who is trained for explosives detection and
attack.
Rocky and his handler recently left Iraq and redeployed back to Germany.
Due to Rocky's advanced age (10 years) and health problems (arthritis), he
will most likely be retired. Because his handler is not able to adopt
him,
he will most likely be euthanized immediately upon retirement.
I am trying to find out if there would be any interest in saving Rocky's
life so that he can spend his golden years in a loving home and enjoy his
retirement rather than being put to death. Due to Rocky's background and
training, he will not be able to go to a home with any other dogs and
should
not go to a home with children. Anyone interested in adopting Rocky
should
have experience with German Shepherds and needs to be willing to pay the
medical costs for the upkeep of his arthritis medications (I believe he is
currently on 3 different meds).
Please let me know if any of you think you can find Rocky a home through
your networks. Please feel free to forward this e-mail to other German
Shepherd rescue networks that you are in contact with if you do not think
you will be able to help.
I do not currently have any pics of Rocky, but can have some sent to me by
his handler.
Thank you very much for your assistance in this matter.
v/r,
Jared
