Monday, Monday!!!

Tomorrow is Monday...finally!

I've been waiting for Monday to come all week. I know it seems odd. Most humans HATE Monday, but Monday is my FAVORITE day!

For the past 5 months or so now, every Monday, we've been "pack walking" with some of our friends. The momma says she wants to "give us a taste of what our ancestors use to do" which was spending a lot of time migrating and moving about in a group. We'll practice our obedience training and are expected to walk "nicely" onleash. Doesn't sound like fun, right? Right.

I could care less about walking nicely on leash and following commands. What I am excited about...and this is a big secret I only tell you, dear diary, is seeing Geronimo! He's only like a year and a half, and I'll be four in just a few months, but there's something so very sexy about Geronimo!

Every time I'm around him I find myself acting very silly...shaking my butt more than usual, puffing out my chest, and just feeling giddy. Probably not the type of mutt a girl would look twice at, but there's just something about him. Still intack, I just can't get enough of him manly aroma. I'll pack walk as polietly on leash as I need to so long as I'm pack walking next to Geronimo!

Geronimo, Geronimo...where for art thou Geronimo?

Or should I say, Coo, coo, ca-choo, Mrs Robinson!

The New Dogster

It's taken us quite awhile to figure out our way around this new dogster, and I must say, I like the old Dogster better!

Our furiend Steinway got dog of the day and we totally missed it! Mom was going to change our profile photos...we still have our winter ones up, and summer is here!

Worst of all, poor Mauii thought we had forgotten his birthday last week. The momma did a whole marathon last week so we didn't even go out. All Mauii got was a "You're one now...yay!!! Happy Birthday!" Then the momma went to sleep. Oh, we did go to the groomers, but I think only the momma thinks that's something special.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY 6-DAYS LATE Mauii!!! Don't tell him, but we are going to celebrate this weekend. We got a hike and a husky beach party. A completely full weekend next weekend to make it up to Mauii. You only get a first birthday once.

Well, now that we've figured a few things out, hopefully we won't be away for so long!

Big Bear, California

Yes Virginia...there is snow is Southern California!!

Last weekend Mauii, Matilda, and new kitty Ti Mishu packed it up and spent four days in Big Bear...about 2 1/2 hours away from our sunny San Diego. It was the momma's 40th birthday. And all she wanted was for us to see snow!! I know we were excited about seeing snow, but I didn't think the momma would be. She said had had it with 11 years of hot and sunny all the time, and just wanted to see something different.

As soon as we got to Big Bear, I felt right at home! It was about 23 degrees!!! And there was snow EVERYWHERE!!! Mauii and I played for four days straight. By the fourth day both our paws were raw and bloodied, but we didn't care. I rolled around in it. When I got thirsty I ate it. I just could get enjoy. If I could live in Big Bear forever and forever I would!!

The momma posted some of her favorite pictures of me from the weekend on my page.

If you'd like to see more...:

You say it's your birthday
It's my birthday too, yeah
They say it's your birthday
We're gonna have a good time
I'm glad it's your birthday
Happy birthday to you.

I turned the big 3 today! It's a happy and sad day all rolled in one. Last year for my birthday the momma brought home Fluffy Butt. He was my birthday present. That way I didn't have to be home alone when the momma went to work.

This year Fluffy and I were going to our first official race together. The momma had a big weekend planned. My birthday. Fluffy's year anniversary with us. It was gonna be a big blowout party for the whole week!

It's just weird not to celebrate with my bestest friend in the whole world. The momma said she couldn't bare to be at the race this year. It was actually at that race where we first met Fluffy...then the dog Bandit. He was a mess. So skinny. Just bones and fur. Today I'm really missing Fluff!

Instead, for my birthday, the momma has planned a trip to the mountains. We're hoping to finally see some snow. It's been raining here in sunny San Diego, which means there should be snow in the mountains. It was getting nice and cold here. By cold I mean about 50 degrees...30 in the mountains. Perfect to keep the snow nice and cold! But last night it started to warm up again. If I at least get to finally see snow, I'll have a decent birthday, even without Fluffy.

So please keep your paws crossed for me!! If everyone thinks snow in San Diego the universe should a line and bring snow my way!

Vacuum #7

With all that's happened with us since these last few months, I never got to update anyone on what happened with vacuum #6.

It died. Just like all the other vacuums in my life. Think #6 gave us 3 maybe 4 good vacuums when finally decided there was too much darn hair and it was calling it quits.

Last month the momma borrowed a vacuum from my buddy Spencer's Mom. It was that Dyson Animal we've heard so many other speak of. And yes...that vacuum was amazing. Even I was surprised how much dirt and hair Fluffy, Little Booga, the kitties and I have been producing. No wonder the momma is always like, "I love you guys, but the hair..."

After borrowing Spencer Mom's vacuum, the momma decided she would either a) just rip out all the carpet or b) suck it up and buy us one of those dysons.

Long story short, the momma said we'll soon be getting vacuum #7. It's gonna be her christmas present to herself. There's just so many different Dyson Animals to choose from....there's the DC 14, DC 15, DC17, DC 25 and DC 28. Aside from some having that ball design, we can't figure out what's the difference and which would be the best one to get. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

Happy Thanksgiving!!

Let's see what am I thankful for...

Definitely that fresh beef bone, filled with lots of yummy marrow the momma left for me this morning.

My favorite kitty Matilda. I know we doggies are not suppose to like kitties, but I really like our kitty Matilda and she really helped when when Fluffy Butt died so I'm grateful for her!

Taste of the Wild...so grateful for my new dog food. I've been getting a little more plump since I've been eating that...ok, ok, A LOT plump, but it's the only dog food I can eat dry, it's that delicious!! The momma had to put me on a diet, but we start training for a marathon soon so it will all hopefully work out where I can eat my Taste of the Wild and NOT get so fat!!

Little Booga...that's my name for Mauii. Yes Little Booga can be a pain in the you know what, but there's never a dull moment with a little puppers around, and the momma has been letting me put him in his place. I so grateful for all that power!!! And he really looks up to me. Even more the Fluffy, so how can you be too mad at that!!

My oval dog bed. Of all the beds in the house, it's my favorite!! I get to curl up and feel nice and snug, like a bug in a rug!

The momma. I'm very grateful to have a momma that takes me hiking, swimming, kayaking, mushing, and I over heard her saying we were going to finally be seeing some snow this winter!! SNOW!!! Real snow! I can hardly wait and am so grateful to have a momma that will take me to see the snow!!

And of course, I'm grateful for the wonderful life I get to live, filled with dog parks, beachs, trails to roam, and all the love I feel each and every day. I was blessed with great family and friends. Who can ask for anything more?

Wishing you all a very safe and Happy Thanksgiving!!

Camping trip

This weekend, the momma is taking Mauii and I camping. I use to love going camping with Fluffy Butt, but I'd rather leave Mauii at home!

We all went camping two weekends ago. Even Matilda came along with us. First off, Mauii got car sick and puked all over all our bedding. Then he puked all over the momma. That was pretty funny, but I was not excited about having to sleep on Mauii puked camping gear.

Then he had a temper tantrum every time the momma or I left his side. Could you be a bigger baby?? The momma woke up early one morning and decided to get up, and get ready in the bathroom. When she got out of the shower, she could hear Mauii screaming like a banchee. It was like 6 in the morning. The whole campsite was woken up. It was humilating.

As I woke up, I discovered not only was I laying there in Mauii puke, he has also peed on everything. The whole trip was a disaster. Not sure why we are going to be doing this all again this weekend.

I'm going to pretend I got a bout of the kennel cough and see if the momma will leave me home with the cat.

Paws out,
Maya

Did you not get the memo???

Dear Fluffy Butt,

Apparently mom did not get the memo that I do not do puppies!!

Thankfully I only had to put up with your silly puppy ways for two months. I've got months and months of silly puppiness to put up with from this Mauii charater!

Can you believe the little runt tried to hump me today. And not once. Not twice, but three time!! And no matter how much I growl at him he doesn't get the message that I just don't want to play! I'm almost three now. I'm too darn old to be rolling around and doing all that nonsense. Afternoons are for napping. Did he not get THAT memo??

Today, mom finally washed the bedding and blankets you laid down on before you went to the rainbow bridge place. I didn't want to say anything, but the bedding was stinking up the house so I'm glad she finally did. And she also picked up all your toys. They're all in your toy bin. I think she'll probably pass them on to the new kid.

I miss you Fluffy. You were the best. Sorry I never told you that. The new kid's gonna be a talker just like you. The other day he threw of fit after mom placed him in his kennel for bed time. He was screaming and whining. Then he threw his head back and tried to howl. It was hilarious!!! It just sounded like, "wh--, wh--, wh--". I wanted to say, "You're forgetting the "oooo"! That's what makes the howl you foolish boy!"

And today when he did his little play bow and started to bark at me because I won't play, that was pretty hilarious too. That was the squeakiest bark I ever heard! Oh, and did I tell you he snores!!! Have you ever heard of a husky that snored!!!

Ok, well that's all the new stuff I have for you. Hope you're having a good time where you are. We've been getting lots of cards. If you didn't get the memo, you're greatly missed down here.

Mauii

All week the Momma and I have been going back and forth to the place were we left Fluffy Butt. Most of the time I just stay inside the car. Each time the momma came out of the building I thought Fluffy Butt would be with her.

Then today, I didn't have to stay in the car. The momma took me inside the building with her. I always remember this place well. The smell. The sounds. The energy in the air. There's lots of frustration. And loneliness. I remember this place because it's the same place I first saw the momma.

We sat in the lobby for about 15 minutes. Couldn't help but to sniff around for Fluffy. He wasn't there. Then a man came and we got to go inside where all the doggies and kitties are. We went into a play yard. And we sat and waited.

In walks this shy, timid, red and white boy. He couldn't have been more that 4 months old. He was scared. The momma told me to ignore the little guy and just pretned he was not there.

A few moments later the red and white boy jumped into the momma lap and started to lick her face. She laughed and said, "Well, you won me over, now all you have to do is win over Maya."

I was determined NOT to be won over. But there was something about the little guy that reminded me of Fluffy Butt. I thought, whatever he was, a stranger in a strange place, someone would go out of their way to make him feel like he belonged. Like he mattered. So I guess that was how I got "won over".

Tomorrow I will have a new baby brother and his name is Mauii.

Paws out,
Maya
