I had a fantabulous birthday weekend! On the big day itself, after breakfast, the secretary took me to daycare for the day. And, as I suspected, I got a swim!!! My swim consisted of several of my favorite daycare peeps throwing toys into the pool for me to fetch. Heaven!! When I got home, the secretary was making me a birthday cake...it had bacon in it!! Can you imagine? I could smell it baking while I napped from my exertions at daycare. At dinnertime, instead of my regular kibble with additions dinner, I had MY OWN STEAK plus some kibble! I was beside myself. After dinner, I had some of my birthday cake. (I'm still not sure I understand why the secretary and the backup wouldn't have a piece. Something about odd combinations turning them off. Anyway, they missed out. It was delectable!) Then I got to open presents. Well, they weren't wrapped but still. I got a bag o' fun stuff from my daycare (they are wonderful) and some new treats, chew bones, and stuffed babies from my pack. I ran around squeaking and squeaking and squeaking my new babies (I heard the backup say to the secretary, "Do you have to get her such noisy stuff?" I think he's just jealous because he's so quiet with nothing to squeak.) After a long round of squeaking, I passed out from exhaustion on my back in the living room and had to be woken up to go to bed.

Then on Sunday, the secretary and the backup took me for a long walk on the beach in Westport. It was a beautiful winter day and I got in the water and splashed around, ran after other dogs' tennis balls, and pranced up and down the beach showing off my 8-year old form. All in all, it was a GREAT birthday weekend. And you know what made it even better?? The birthday wishes from my pals! Thanks to each of you for the good wishes. They must have been granted because I think this ranks up there as one of the best weekends I've ever had. I wish the same for each and every one of you!

Come on over, Zaidie! The peeps wouldn't eat any of my cake (can you imagine??) so I've got plenty left. (The secretary has been murmuring something about my sensitive gastro-intestinal system and midnight runs to the backyard last night so I'm guessing some of the cake might be destined for the trash can if you don't hurry!!)
