The neighbor next door was outside mowing and I heard him hollar, "Hey Nancy, have you seen my new pups?" I answered, "No, what kind are they?" He replied, "I''ve got six Boxers!" I walked over to his mother's mobile home where he was staying. We went to an outdoor kennel he had recently finished building. There lay on a blanket on the cement slab the mother Boxer and her young ones suckling. They were all so cute. He asked, "Do you want to buy one?" I asked, "How much?" He replied, two hundred, fifty dollars each." I told him, I couldn't afford to pay that much. I wished I could though, because they so cute!" I said, "See ya later," and walked back home. I told my husband about the puppies I saw at the neighbors. He said, "I told David not to mention the puppies to you, because I knew you would want one." I told my husband, "Relax, I didn't get one, and told him I couldn't afford one." That evening, the telephone rang, it was David, the neighbor with the Boxer pups. He asked me, "Nancy, do you want one of the puppies?" I reminded him again, that I couldn't afford one. He said, "Well, if you want one, I wanted to just give you the pick of the litter, for treating my mother so well and taking care of her." I started to feel the excitement swelling up inside of me. I said, " I'll be right over!" I ran to the home next door and met David in front of the dog kennel. He unlocked the padlock on the gate and let me inside. "Pick one out," he said. I picked up each Boxer puppy carefully examining it and setting it back down. I noticed that all but one of the puppies had a pointed head. I chose the pup with a rounded head and took it home. My husband was in the bed, but still awake. I told him about the telephone call and showed him the boxer puppy I thought was the best looking. I laid the pup next to in the bed. My husband said, "Don't lay that dog next to me, you know how I am about animals!" The fact was he was an animal lover almost as much as I was. The puppy started whining, and my husband picked it up from beside him and held it up to look at it more closely. I said with excitement, "Isn't she cute, look she likes you, can I have it?" He asked me, "What are we going to do with another animal?" I answered, "Love it like we do the rest." Needless to say, my husband gave in. He named her Princess, and I named her Isabella. That's how her name came about, Princess Isabella. To this day, I still have her. Isabella will be 5 years old this month. I brought her home after she was weaned two weeks later. She was housebroken in a week, and has been a great joy to my life. Isabella, is my baby girl, and she surely knows it. She is so spoiled and I love her so very much! She loves to play, go for walks and ride in the Blazer. She has such a good temperment and loves anyone who will pay attention to her. She now weighs 97 pounds. She's a big girl and so beautiful! Isabella is a woman's best friend!
