Arrival Story:
We bought him from some friends at the barn where I rode horses - their dog had 4 puppies, and Flash was the only red-colored! I met him first when he was only 4 weeks old, and I was the only person who could hold him without him whining - love at first sight. We've been inseparable ever since - and he always insists on sleeping in my bed when I come home from school. He technically belongs to my parents, but I'll always consider him "my" dog.

Bio:
[July 2008] Last month, Flash was diagnosed with Sudden Accute Retinal Degradation, otherwise known as SARDs, a disease that hits about 4,000 dogs a year in the entire world. Within 24 hours, he went completely blind in both eyes. It was both completely shocking and depressing to me and my family. At first, he was depressed - he didn't understand why he couldn't catch a ball in midair anymore, or play basketball, or even stop running into walls in the house. Then that diagnosis was followed closely by a Cushings diagnosis, which means he is perpetually hungry and thirsty - and if not let out every 30 minutes (even at night) he has accidents all over the carpet. Luckily, he's the smartest dog in the world. He's figured out new games to play, mostly tug-o-war games, but he's even figured out a way to catch a ball in midair if we throw it just right. Now he's back to his old, happy self, as long as he's got a toy in his mouth and one of us is nearby. My family and I are still adjusting, but as long as Flash is happy, we will be, too.

Lost Dog - Please help me find him!

I found out about this through a friend of mine. A 12 year old yellow Lab/Sharpei mix weighing about 80 pounds was lost in Waco, TX on the Baylor campus early this afternoon. Due to the freezing weather and ice/rain mix that is now falling, it is becoming critical that we find him, if he has not already been picked up by someone. If you live in this area or know someone who does, PLEASE keep an eye out for him!! He is very sweet and answers to the name Hendrix, and has a collar on with that name. He just recently underwent surgery so part of the hair is shaved off of his neck. Thank you so much for your help!!! I will keep you updated!

A picture is posted on Faith's profile - please go take a look!!
