Takoda is in training to be my "in-home" service dog. Right now she's learning to wake me up in the morning!
Arrival Story:
My mom fell in love with her sister, and I fell in love with Takoda. After emailing someone with the rescue group, the person told us they would hold her for us on November 25th 2007 until we arrived. We arrived five minutes after their opening (11 AM) and we decided to get her on the spot. I know spontaneously adopting a pet doesn't always end up well, but I just knew the second I held that calm, bundle of fur in my arms she was MY dog. My instincts haven't failed me in the past! Everyone there also loved her, and not a single person walked by that didn't stop to pet her and compliment her. After we got the puppy necessities, we headed to my grandma's house (who lost her Australian Shepherd, Whisky, on Thanksgiving) and spent an hour or so there. Takoda was a hit with my grandmother and aunt. :)
She has taught me so much in the short amount of time she has been with us. The biggest thing she taught me was to stand up for myself and to stop letting people walk all over me. For once in my life I felt like I had something to fight for and I wasn't afraid to let the world know it!
If it weren't for Takoda I don't know what I'd do or where I would be, I have fought many battles for her sake and I don't regret one bit of it. I will never give up on her or her problems, and she will never give up on me in return. I do not and will never regret getting Takoda, no matter what we have to face with her.
Bio:
Takoda is my crazy little dog. Who knows what all she's mixed with, but one thing I know for certain is her personality is full Aussie! She's insane, bouncy, intelligent to a fault, and just the most happy-go-lucky dog I've ever met (well, except for when she's in fear mode, that is!). She is always outwitting me in every way that she can and surprising me every single day. While everyone else in the house is often annoyed by her silly spontaneous behavior I absolutely adore it. I'm now totally convinced Aussies are the breed for me in every way.
