Arrival Story:
I had to put down my 10 year old Great Dane, Duke, because of heart failure. A little over a month later, I brought home Bruiser. As my vet told him during his first visit, "you have some mighty big paws to fill, son". What Bruiser lacks in size, he more than makes up for in heart and love.

Bio:
When Bruiser was about 6 months old, I noticed blood in his urine. I was thankful that he wasn't potty trained at the time and still used newspapers or else I wouldn't have noticed the reddish tinge on the newspaper. I took him to the vet where he was diagnosed with a bladder stone which, in and of itself isn't terrible. However, tests run on the stone after its removal pointed to a possible portosystemic liver shunt that would need to be ligated or else he would go downhill fast and cross the rainbow bridge before his time. There never was a question of whether or not he would have the corrective surgery when I found out the liver shunt did exist. I went to the bank and secured a loan. Bruiser spent the week of his first birthday at the vet, having the procedure done. I asked that they sing "Happy Birthday" to him. I was bummed that he wouldn't be home enjoying some sort of dog-friendly birthday food treat. :( Weeks later, digestive and blood tests proved that the surgery was a 100% success. Since then, he's been a healthy pug - my shadow, and my best friend. I'd do it all over if I had to.

taking naps, eating yum yum, chewin' on pig ears.

Last week, the unthinkable happened. Two lady humans brought a dog to the house. And left him! Did I mention that he looks just like me? He smelled funny. He tried to chew on my toys! And the biggest insult - he layed in MY LADY HUMAN'S lap!!! Argh!

He is STILL here. I heard the humans talking - he didn't have a very nice puppyhood at all. The ASPCA took him away from the bad humans and the Pug Rescue of Memphis put him with a nice lady human. She and the owner of the rescue brought him here.

If he's tryin to get some pity from me, it won't work!! This is my house, darnit! I don't roll that way!!! There he is now - sleeping on MY bed. Grrr.

Oh well, my lady human likes him. I guess I'll let her keep him.

I see my lady human playing around on her blog (instead of petting me!) and decided I wanted somewhere to post my thoughts too!

I'm not sure what's going on around my house lately. The humans were here today instead of at work. I missed out on quality beauty sleep - which I'm not terribly upset about because my lady human was cooking lots of yummy-smell foods. Of course, I laid on the poor-pitiful-me eyes and got lots of samples ;)

After the humans ate (with the girl human slipping me goodies under the table), I took a nap with my lady human. Then, can you believe it?! They left me home alone to go to a friend's house! What's even worse is that my lady human was two-timing me with some other dogs! I could smell 'em when she came home.

Ah well, I forgave her - after I chewed up her sock real good. She'll know better next time! Cuz that's just the way I roll...
