Arrival Story:
In college we adopted a red beagle named Austin. Austin was a good pet but soon after getting him he ran away! We searched forever and with no luck....Austin was gone. We hope that he found a new home. The good part of the story is that if Austin had not run away we would have never known Dixie. We went back to the pound to get a new dog and approached the pen where there were several dogs begging for his attention. Most of which were barking and jumping up and down......Dixie caught our eye. She was standing in the back of the pack wagging her tail in her trademark circle (like a helicoptor propelor) and just smiling. We said---"We'll take that one". She came home with us at the cost of $7. For several days she never even barked! Dixie is a sweet, loving dog and makes us very happy. I don't know what we would do without her!

Bio:
Dixie is from the Appalachian Mountains. Her full name is Dixie Leigh. We are not sure of her exact birthday but believe that she was about 11 months old when we rescued her on September 20, 1998.
