Big Reunion

I met Thelma, my mommy! She is pretty and so soft. We had a rendezvous at Nitro's Grand Bazaar, a fundraiser for Pause 4 Paws. My mommy and I look so much alike, but her legs are a little shorter than mine, and she's longer than I am. When we saw each other for the first time in two years, there was lots of butt sniffing! Then we got our picture taken to commemorate the historic event.

After my mommy left, there was still a lot for me to do. I helped Aimee collect signatures for the humane farms campaign. Everyone said that I was cute, and I gave everyone doggie kisses. Some people even gave me treats! Yum, yum!

Aimee and I also got our picture taken with Nitro, the camel.

I was so good--I only barked at a couple of other dogs, and I was very charming with all the two-legged folks.

On the ride home, I was so tired, I slept like a log!

Coyote Run-in

Tonight, I was outside taking care of business, and a coyote was stalking me! I guess I look plump and juicy. Because I was preoccupied, I didn't even notice. George had to chase it away. Whew, close one! Now, I can't go outside without being on the leash. At least then I can run up and down the driveway dragging Aimee along.

It was another boring night with George. He's just not as much fun! Aimee was volunteering again at the Arizonans for Humane Farms (www.yesforhumanefarms.org) office. I guess the pigs and cows need help, too, especially since they don't have as many people who love them and take care of them.

Pug-a-Palooza

On Saturday, Aimee and I drove a long way in the car, but it was so worth it. We went to Pug-a-Palooza, one of Arizona Pug Adoption and Rescue Network's (APARN, www.arizonapugrescue.com) major fundraisers. I saw so many pugs in funny costumes...some were dressed as spiders, some in grass skirts and leis, and there was a great wonder woman pug! Everyone thought I was very cute, but I was much more hyper than the other pugs there. One of the groomers trimmed my toenails and cleaned my folds and ears. She told Aimee that I was very good when getting my face cleaned, but I acted up a little when she cut my toenails. She said I pretended to kiss her but nipped her instead. I'm sneaky!

We took a break and sat on a couch so Aimee could drink a Diet Coke, and two little girls and a woman sat down next to us. They were with an older pug that we recognized as Phoebe, APARN's spokespug. I got to meet a famous pug! Maybe that means I'm famous, too. The little girls told Stacy that I looked a lot like Thelma, Stacy's dog. So Stacy asked Aimee about me and where I came from. It turns out that Thelma is a pug who lives with Stacy--and she is my mom! She was turned into the county shelter two years ago with a litter of puppies, and I was one of those puppies! Aimee is going to take me to meet her in two weeks. Yea!

I got to go in the car again! What fun to bark at motorcycles and big trucks. Aimee took me to Petsmart so I could get a special Halloween picture. We saw more dogs in costumes--and I only had my bandana! How embarassing! Since the photo backdrop was right by the door, I was too busy barking at all the people and dogs coming into the store, I couldn't really concentrate on being cute for my picture. And the photographer got Aimee in the shot, too, which she wasn't happy about at all! We also had to get a new cat bed for Sloane since I've chewed up all of her others.

Halloween Dog Walk

Yesterday, Aimee and I walked almost two miles to support the Foothills Animal Rescue. At first, I didn't like all the other dogs, and I barked at them (especially the big ones!). But once we started walking, I felt more comfortable, and then I was too tired to care! Some dogs entered the costume contest. Two had hula girl outfits. One cute Boston Terrier was dressed as a bat--she was my favorite. And a pair of Great Danes had cowboy and cowgirl gear. They were about five times as big as I! We also saw a trick contest--some roll-overs, some dancing, and lots of cute dogs!

Watching my Weight

I got to go in the car this week! I love barking at the motorcycles that pass by. I haven't been in the car for months and months because Aimee thinks it's been too hot for me. Finally, it's cooler here in the desert, so Aimee decided I could go with her to indulge her diet coke habit. She got out my harness (which hooks me to the seatbelt so I am safe), and I was so good, just standing there quietly (which I NEVER do!). Well, I haven't worn the harness since the last time I was in the car. It hardly fit around my stomach! I didn't realize I was eating so many treats. Now, George says I have to go on this thing called a diet! It doesn't sound good! At least I'm not as big as Sloane! Why isn't anyone saying SHE needs a diet?!

I miss that black cat. She was fun to chase around the house because she could run so fast. The other cat just stares at me and hisses if I try to play with her.

I graduated from basic dog training on Sunday! I had to go through an obstacle course where I sat, had to ignore yummy rawhide treats, wait, sit, stay, settle, and come. I got a certificate and even got to wear a graduation hat!
