A Place Called The Rainbow Bridge

The Autopsy Results

The vet called us with the results of Dakoda's autopsy. Apparently she had hepatitis and distemper, the vet said she had it before we got her and it killed her so God brought her to us just to give her two weeks of love and be with her when she crossed over. All though I miss her little butt terribly the vet said even if we would have gotten her to the vet we couldn’t have saved her.

Remember Our Love

I was chosen today
I'm learning to fly
the world took me away,
but please don't you cry

And I chose you today
to try and be strong
so please don't you cry
and don't say that I'm gone

When you're feeling alone
just remember our love,
I'm up near the stars
looking down from above.

Remember our love
In a moment you'll see
that I'm still here beside you
when you're thinking of me.

A Beautiful Poem From Our Friend Sassy

Goodbye from your dog

Who have ever had to put a beloved dog to sleep. I hope that these words give you a little comfort in your time of grief.

Until We meet Again
By Dennis Young

I remember when I first came to live with you, I was so small, and to me, you were so big. At first I didn’t know what to do, but you were there to help me along, and show me what you wanted me to do, and I was only too happy to do what you asked.
There was a time when I didn’t know what love was, and you taught me that love, was all around me, and all I had to do, was to look, and I would find it. I came to love you just as you loved me, and I had the best life that any dog could ever ask for.
The years that I have spent with you have been the happiest in my life, but the time came for me to go away, and you made that decision to end my suffering, and for that, I will be forever grateful. I may not be there for you to touch, pat or hug, but I want you to know that I’m never very far away. Just look in your heart, and that’s where you will find me, so it’s not really good-bye it’s just; until we meet again, because we will meet again in a place where there will be no more pain, and no more suffering, a place where we can run, and play, and be together forever.
I will love you always.
Your best friend,
Your Dog

The dogs who've shared our lives.
In subtle ways they let us know
their spirit still survives.
Old habits still make us think
we hear a barking at the door.
Or step back when we drop
a tasty morsel on the floor.
Our feet still go around the place
the food dish used to be,
And, sometime, coming home at night,
we miss them terribly.
And although time may bring new friends
and a new food dish to fill,
That one place in our hearts
belongs to them...
and always will.

The Bridge

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
