I didn't think I wanted a dog right away but it was to quiet without Henry. My family has Newfoundlands so I got Ludo in February from a breeder. Bio: I've had a busy spring. I went to the vet and everybody thought I was such a good boy. I weighed in at 126 pounds. I also got groomed. They gave me a bath, brushed out all of my loose hair and evened out all of my hair so you can't even tell I had been shaved. My mom tells me everyday how pretty I look. I also started Obedience training. I still get tired after 30 minutes and have to lay down and take a break, but Chuck the trainer doesn't mind, he just laughs at me and calls me a typical Newfie. I can't wait for it to warm up so I can go swimming.
At 6 months old I started limping so my mom took me to the Vet and after x-rays I was diagnosed with Osceochondrosis (OCD) in my right and left shoulders and Hip Dysplaysia in both back hips. I had surgery on my right shoulder first. The OCD is basically a bone chip that floats around in my shoulder, and the actual bone is jagged. It is painful. So I had surgery on my right shoulder first, which went very well. They removed the chips and smoothed out my bone. I was supposed to have a surgery on my hip next but my left shoulder hurt to bad, so a few weeks later I had the same thing done to my left shoulder. I got an infection but I got medicine and it went away. Then a few more weeks later I had my first hip surgery. They call it a TPO where they cut the hip bone in three places and rotate it so the ball and socket fit together better. The rush with the surgeries is because the TPO had to be done while I was young before arthritis set in. They wanted to do them before I hit 9 months old. I was supposed to have the TPO surgery on my left hip but after taking x-rays arthritis started and my right hip wasn't fully healed. It wasn't looking like the best option. So now I get to rest up before I have a full hip replacement on my left hip, which I will probably have in the Spring if it doesn't get to bad before then. Other than that I am a happy, healthy dog. I even love it when I get to go to the vet each time and see all the people and play with the resident cat.
