Arrival Story:
One morning I woke up, rather hung-over and without my glasses on. I stepped into my living room and there was a giant black mass sitting on my floor. Being as that the CNE was going on in Toronto, I assumed it was a stuffed toy. Laughing, I said "Why is there a moose in our house?". 10 seconds later I was being slobbered by a giant 140lb pregnant Rottweiler named Gigi. I instantly fell in love with her. Gigi had been a rescue dog who had been overbred so that her former owner could make money off of her puppies. This time, she had gotten pregnant by a large German Shepard while visiting a farm and her owner no longer wanted anything to do with her or the expected pups. My friend adopted Gigi and helped her through her whelping. When the puppies were old enough to leave home, I knew I had to have one. My friend's mother insisted we take the runt of the litter-a small female who, ironically, was the only one who looked like a German Shepherd. Of Course we fell instantly in love with her and now Lady is officially our 80 lb lap dog.

Bio:
Lady is back with her whole family (my mother has moved back in with my boyfriend and I into a far dog-friendlier building than where she was before). She's no longer the biggest dog in the area but she makes up for it by being the biggest suck. At 11 she's no longer quite as active as she once was but her younger (and smaller) brother Nicky keeps her on her toes. She's quite happy to be back living with her extended kitty family.

Yesterday our new kitty sister Cloud came to live with us in her Furever Home! Being our home's official Welcome Waggin' I walked right up to her and gave her lots of big wet puppy kisses! Sesshy wasn't too sure what to make of her at first so he stuck by my side for the night. Mom, Big Sis and Adam kept Cloud seperated in Big Sis and Adam's room for the night but her and Sesshy kept talking to each other through the door. They seem to like to play tag at the moment and I joined in for a little bit too but those little maniacs are way too quick for me! Tomorrow is Cloud's 3rd Birthday so Mommy says that the family is going to have a special party for all of us to celebrate and to welcome her into the family!!! I hope that means a pepperoni stick for me!

My oldest kitty brother, Smokey is going to the bridge.

Smokey took a stroke last night. It was very fast and within an hour he went from being himself to being unable to walk or focus his eyes clearly. We've given him food and he's had some water, but he can no longer hold up his head on his own. At the age of 20 (he'd be 21 in April) we've decided the best thing to do is to let him leave this world with dignity and without pain, so in two hours we are going to the vet to be with him in his final moments. We are so grateful to all our catster and dogster friends, and this wonderful community, who we know will support us in this difficult time.

Happy Valentine's Day to all my pup pals and to Dogster HQ. Thank you for the beautiful candy heart rosette HQ and for all the beautiful roses, candies, lips and hearts from my pawsome pals! Congratulations to Cherokee Cherry for winning diary of the day!!! *Big hugs and kisses* One of my favourite love poems for this special occasion:

She Walks In Beauty by Lord Byron

She walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that's best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes:
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.

One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o'er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express
How pure, how dear their dwelling place.

And on that cheek, and o'er that brow,
So soft, so calm, yet eloquent,
The smiles that win, the tints that glow,
But tell of days in goodness spent,
A mind at peace with all below,
A heart whose love is innocent!
