Arrival Story:
Hans came from German Shorthaired Pointer rescue in El Cerrito. Our other foster, Chip, had just been adopted and our house felt lonely without a 2nd dog. We got him the day after Chip was adopted in January 2004. He was in rescue for about a year, unadopted. His vet discovered that he has a heart murmer and arthritis, so he is now our "long-term" foster - he'll stay with us until he dies (which we hope will be a LONG time from now!). GSP rescue deemed him unadoptable since he will probably eventually become a very expensive senior citizen, and they just want him to have a home where he is loved and taken care of. He is such a joy to have in our home.

Bio:
Hans was a gift to us. We never expected to have him for 2 1/2 years! He brought us, and so many others, a ton of joy. I hope that the lesson that I take from loving Hans is that every, single day should be lived with utter joy and enthusiasm. Hans, we'll miss you and we thank you for being such a special and important part of our lives. We'll always love you. You're the best dog we've ever loved.
