February 16th 1979

Arrival Story:
The "ex" and I wanted a dog and we found an ad in the paper for Silky Terriers. We went to the breeder's home and saw the mom and dad and four puppies all in a big play pen area ... all the puppies were barking very loudly except for one that just stayed towards the back - he's the one I picked, a little puff of black and tan fur that I named Sedoso (silky in Spanish).

Bio:
Sedoso lived with us for 6 1/2 years ... during that time, he suffered abuse at the hands of my mean and stupid "ex" ... Sedoso was sweet and gentle and he was my dog - he defended me when "ex" would get nasty. This precious little soul developed epilepsy and was on medication to control the seizures. Whenever he felt a seizure coming on, he would seek me out and I would sit on the floor and hold him until it passed. After 6 1/2 years of being my little furchild, the "ex" became allergic to dogs and I was forced to find a home for Sedoso. I was blessed to find a very loving, elderly lady whose dog had just left for the Bridge and she opened her home to Sedoso. I visited him once he had settled in and he always recognized me and would come over and give me his paw. Sadly, he had to be assisted to Rainbow Bridge after he developed cancer of the liver. To this day I cry when I remember the day I drove him to his new home ... I cry as I write this because I was told he sat by the window all night long waiting for me to come back ... what did he think of me, I'm sure he felt I had abandoned him .. but I now he forgave me and I also know I saved his life by finding him a new home ... he lives in my heart forever. Until I hold you again, Sedoso, I love you!

Voice of the Voiceless
by Ella Wheeler Wilcox

I am the voice of the voiceless,
Through me the mute shall speak,
Till the deaf world's ear be made to hear
The wrongs of the wordless weak.
From street, from cage, and from kennel,
From stable and zoo, the wail
Of my tortured kin proclaims the sin
Of the mighty against the frail.
Oh, shame on the mothers of mortals
Who have not stooped to teach
Of the sorrow that lies in dear, dumb eyes,
The sorrow that has no speech.
The same force formed the sparrow
That fashioned man the king;
The God of the whole gave a spark of soul
To furred and to feathered thing.
And I am my brother's keeper,
And I will fight his fight,
And speak the word for beast and bird
Till the world shall set things right.

My furblings and I are sharing this poem because this is what our mom believes and this is why the truth must be spoken always and everywhere.
