RIP My beautiful boy

Merlin walked over the Rainbow Bridge on Monday night. My heart is shattered and I miss him so much. His hips were really starting to bother him, he wasn't eating well, and I could tell he was in pain. I promised him when I rescued him that he would never feel pain again and now he is at peace, running with his other furry relatives and basking in the glory of heaven.

I will always love you, you will always be in my heart, and I know I will see you again someday my loving furbaby! Rest in peace my love!

It's My 14th Birthday Today!

Wow! So last year we were so afraid of the big "C" diagnosis, but as the year went on, I showed no signes of it. No coughing, etc. and when I went for a follow up visit in August, the doctors said they didn't hear anything in my chest and that maybe, just maybe, they had misdiagnosed me! It could have been an infection or some kind of bruising as I did fall on my elbow while playing tug. In either case, my mommy is sooooooo happy! She still keeps me on the special food "just in case," but everyone is happy that it seems to have gone away. No more x-rays because at my age, and since I'm breathing well and not showing other signs, we're just leaving it be.

I am getting older and sometimes my hips give out, but mommy has me on special medication, joint supplements and food and it helps me out. A good hip/leg/joint rub in the morning before we go out for a walk always helps too! Aside of that, I'm still my silly self with a heart of gold! Looking forward to my "birthday cheeseburgers" tonight! I am loved!!!

Happy 13th Birthday to me!

Wow! Here I am at 13. Doing OK, but getting older. Was diagnosed with Cancer last month which broke my mommy's heart, but since I am in no pain and it doesn't seem to be affecting me too much, we're taking it day by day. My mommy and my doctor put me on yummy new food that is supposed to fight some cancer cell growth and although I know it has "medicine" in it, when she mixes it with my other prescription joint food, it tastes like steak to me! She is taking great care of me and I know that I am loved so much. Since it is my birthday today, I know I'm getting special cheeseburgers to mix in with my dinner - yum! We're so lucky to have "rescued" each other!

Summer of 2009

Well, things have gotten much better since my mommie finally got a new job in May. She's so happy and is more fun to be around now. She is also feeling better and that's good too! This summer it's either been rainy or hot, hot HOT so I don't go outside too much. I'm getting a little older and the heat bothers me so I like to lounge on mommie and daddie's bed in the air conditioning when they're not home (oops, they're not supposed to know that - LOL!). Anyway, things are OK and I'm doing well. Looking forward to a little cooler weather though. I promise to try to write sooner! Love, Merlin :o)

Happy Birthday to ME!

Today is my birthday. My mom took me in our truck - I LOVE the truck - and we went to see my big brother Dakota (mom's horsie son), then we got to go to the store so I could pick out my birthday presents. I love going for rides in the truck and love getting presents even more! The people in the pet store couldn't believe that I turned 11 years old today. Guess I look pretty good for senior. My mom takes really good care of me. On the way home, she even stopped so that I could get a cheeseburger from Burger King. It's a special treat since I'm on a really healthy diet otherwise, but she knows it's a special occasion and I was so happy to eat it!

Anyway, things are looking up a little for my mom and she's more herself now. We're so happy to have eachother. My mom loves me so much! Hope everyone has a great day and also - Happy Valenties Day!

My mommie is sad

To all my doggie friends. My mom has been extremely depressed this year. She lost both of her grandparents, her boss screams at her and threatens her for no reason and her salary has been cut by 20% this year (1 day per week). Fortunately my dad is cool and they are both financially OK, but it's tight - real tight. She knows she has me to love and comfort her (and I give her lots of love every day), but I know she's really upset and looking for a new job. It makes me sad too. I'm asking all my fellow Dogster friends to pray for her that she gets the job she interviewed for last month. They really seem to like her and now she has to wait until January to find out. This is what she really wants for Christmas. Thank you all and Merry Christmas!

Happy Birthday to Me

Today is my 10th birthday! My mom gave me extra cookies with breakfast and will take me out for my traditional birthday cheeseburgers! Yum! I just love my cheeseburgers - so much so that if anyone says the word, I'll sit by the front door and bark until I have their attention. I try to give my best beg face, but it doesn't always work. Fortunately, my mom knows that it's a special treat for me (I'm on a strict healthy dog diet so not too much people food) so when she says "let's go get some cheeseburgers," she means it. Anyway, just wanted to say hello and to say how happy I am to have this birthday with my forever mom. Also - Happy Valentines' Day to everyone. My mom says I'm her special valentine all year - yeah!!!
