Arrival Story: When my brother and I left the nest (1995), my mom wanted a companion. She went to the Pasadena Humane Society to look around and found a little 9 month old stray. He already had a waiting list of 3 people but she asked to be put last on that list anyway, just in case anyone backed out. The adoption counselor said that it was highly unlikely that she would get him because there were 3 people ahead of her. On the day of his adoption, she went to the shelter early and to all of our surprise, none of the 3 people ahead of her showed up to take him home. He was fixed and came home with her 2 days later. Charlie is our family's first dog and a really special member of our family.

Bio: Charlie was diagnosed with lymphoma in May 2007 and he is being treated by our internist with a chemotherapy regimen. He is doing great - he continues to be spunky and lively despite being 13 and having cancer! My family continues to treasure each day that we have with him!
