MANY MANY THANKS for all the love and good wishes for My Boy on his 6th Birthday(this was the date he and I decided on when he rescued me !). He is and always will be "work in progress." but he would give his life for me. He (and Lucus) are the last things I touch at night and the first things I touch in the morning. He is .. they are.. my heartbeat.. and that is something here we all understand.

Rememberance Day ..... the 11th hour of the 11th Day of the 11th Month. Armistice Day.

My Grandad was a muleateer in WWI... survival time rated 1 week ....and survived the 5 nightmare years. My Dad was on long range penetration behind enemy lines in Burma for 4 out of the 5 years of WWII .. survival time reckoned at 2 weeks... he did 4 years.. Neither talked about the horror and the nightmares... they spoke of the comradeship and selflessness of others.

I like all of us grew up honouring the men and women who bought our freedom with their lives.. and their hopes... and their bravery. Many since have continued this sacrifice in more pointless wars.. and there have been over the centuries amazing acts of sacrifice in the name of Freedom.

Freedom isnt Free and a "Right" isnt a Right... is earned.. with a few exceptions..... and all of us.. combatant.. or non-combatant have a duty of responsibility to see these sacrifices arent in vain.

My beloved Dad died 10th November 1984 .. he was just short of his 63rd birthday ... there is always an extra bitter-sweet about this time of year.

People have been p and e-mailing me... so this is the News !

Friday night we had another Quake.

We were 50 miles from the epicentre... Cleveland County... but we rattled and shook for around 10 seconds.

This is the earthquake fault that has been getting increasingly active for 2 yrs now.Its same one as we felt in Norman that October day last year (we have now moved to our own place as some of you know... peace and quiet.. no neighbours and 2 fenced acres!!) when I thought someone had smacked into the apartment building.

It was a real 10 second shaker Friday night... its a shallow fault.. so radiates fast been 14 plus aftershocks from it since then.... but it was doing 4.7s and many more all yesterday from early hours too. I had been following it on the USGS since early Thursday (when the 1st one hit).. and I submitted a report last night after to them. Its a record breaker for Oklahoma.. small as they go... but it can stay away if it likes !!

The dogs had been restive for 48 hrs.. !! Although its been quietly bumping away yesterday as well.. but we havent felt it.

Well... at 8.46pmCST tonight we had a small 3 second rattler of a 4.7 Nothing much... but showing the "last Hurrahs" arent over yet.

The dogs are becoming excellent Alerters !

We have severe storms coming through tonight and are on a Tornado Watch ... may as well keep the adrenalin going I suppose !!

Its amazing.. 100 days of 100F plus and today....it rained !! BUT.. we need it and it made for a nicer cooler visit !

SO...... it was SO good to see John and Wes again. They are on their way to the Grand Canyon and beyond for hiking. Most of you know that Flicka has had some big problemns we have had to work through. Meeting new folk.. and new dogs is still very hard for him. That makes the day today even more of a triumph. All went well.. and we even managed a real meet for the dogs. That.. for those who know what its been like... was more than I could have dreamed 5 years ago.

It was a wonderful visit.. and Lucas (bless my Little Alien !) was able to really have fun too... he joyfully has never had problems.. and it was so good to see HIM being able to have fun too.

Safe Journeys my friends... see you again next time round .. and John.... BE SAFE... you know what I mean !! We will be following the Journey !

Life is a circle ......... Goodbye my Dear Friend

Life is a circle...... one of my dearest friends in dogster died at 2pm today. Those of you who know "Geena" the Golden Retriever... it was her Mum ,Margo. Typically she didnt tell folk she had cancer.. just brushed it off telling folk other stuff so they didnt worry.

I have just spoken to her Frank at length.. he is doing ok right now.. and so is Geena. It has yet to really sink in. Again typically....... Margo wanted no fuss... the funeral is provisionally Monday (to be confirmed) . No viewing.. no flowers.. no fuss. Please.... just stop for a quiet moment and CELEBRATE her life .... she was a joy.. and is a treasure. I will miss her with all my heart. Who will I email with at 2am in the morn now......

The day in England on my trip home in March that I went to Westonbirt Arboretum... I took her spirit with me... and walked around that wonderful place "with her".She knew I was going that day .... and she said she felt me lift her spirit and take her with me.

Life IS a circle.... death hath no dominion when we CELEBRATE the jewel of Life. Just remember to tell someone you love them ... this jewel glows so briefly...

This was my day....

Last night after the stress of 6 weeks of getting to buy the house...... hurt alot.. took meds..
Didnt sleep with excitement and exhaustion.
Got up... hugged Lucas a Happy Birthday and attacked 53 emails about the house..,and Lucas birthday.
Fed the boys and walked them...
Jay and I got going on lists and phone calls to start Utility swaps.. needed to make sure Electric just carried over as it was nearly 100f today and we need A/C there. ( At the house we Closed on yesterday)
Went out.. bought boxes/tape/wrap... brought back to apt.. staggered upstairs with them.
Walked Boys.. hellish hot... Gave fuss to Lucas Bless him !
Left Boys here as we needed to go to new place and just walk the place.. do measuring....
Idiot me starts stacking fence posts in 100F.... not good idea but did stop before I got heat stroke
Panic.. that deer you saw in the pics... it lives with the horse you saw in the pics ... next door at new house .. Please please PLEASE Boys when you get here tomorrow for the 1st time BE GOOD for Mamma.
Panicing.. the grass has grown LOTS... NEED ride on mower fast... bargin with Jay. We are going Friday to order one. Will take me 2 days to mow once we get it sometime next week.
Panic.. need to start packing.
Get home at 8.30pm
Get food.. sit at computer....
Finally succeed in getting past idiot comcast server Black Pearls Mum has and get the pics to her

If you have borne with me thus far.....

Most of us have gone through bad times in our lives when we simply didnt want to wake up. We have seen cruelties that are unspeakable... ached at the death of loved ones ..... BUT........

There are times when our hearts burst with JOY and wonder at the sheer kindness and goodness of people. This was one of THOSE GOOD times.

Yesterday... finally in my life I got the dream house and land I never believed I could have

I have the love of a wonderful man that I kissed many frogs to find....and when i did find him... he was 4500 miles from my home.

I have 2 WONDERFUL rescue boys who drive me crazy sometimes but give love so UNCONDITIONAL that it leaves me humbled.

The icing on the cake.. the love and friendship I found from folk on this site ... that I couldnt have imagined.

THANKYOU isnt never a big enough word.......

P.S. Still panicing about that #$%^&* grass.... and the horse and the deer and the DOGS !!!!!!!!!!!!!

A Special Day.........

Well today was a very special day for us as a family. Mum and Dad signed the Closing for a place that is our dream house ! At LAST we will have 2 wonderful fenced acres with almost no neighbours ! A place to run and play and just BE.

Mum will get a garden once again. She misses England and the sea lots.. but she has SO missed a garden too. Now... she has one !

The neighbours one side have a horse.....Mum says alot of cheese is going to be involved in teaching us something she is calling "Horse Manners". Not sure what that is all about !

She also said all bets are on as to whether Lucas or I will be the first to get "skunked" !!! Our neighbours range from Bobwhite Quail to Bobcats !

She said we can have a paddling pool too !

Its been a long road to this point....... All Will be Well.........

ADOPT 2011 CONTEST

I didnt know where to start with this... so I have used Flicka's Bio and my personal feeling all mixed together.

I rescued Flicka from a dark stinking bug infested Hell Hole. I had recently married a lovely American gent and come to live in the U.S. I had had the best girl in all the world in the UK... my Cleo. She was a black German Shepherd. She had died 18mths before I came here. Once I was here I was desperate for a dog and only lasted being here 2 mths before I found Flicka ! He was around 16wks old when he came into my life.

Flicka is very protective of me. He takes a while to get used to new people.. but once he does he loves them dearly. He takes to women better than men. We are working on his problems with people. He is such a loving soul with his ''family''. He loves to play in the water and recently introduced his little brother Lucas to the Lake !

UPDATE FOR FLICKA'S 3rd BIRTHDAY 1st MARCH 2009 Today is my Beautiful Boys 3rd Birthday. He was not supposed to see this day... he was a throwaway abused pup ... 12 hrs from death. This is a guess date... he was around 16 weeks old when he rescued me. He has grown into a wonderful dog. He still has one or two problems... but lets face it.. who or what doesnt ?. His loyalty is unquestionable and his love is unconditional ... and so is mine to him. He stood beside the hole in my heart that was left when Cleo died and he quietly built a bridge over it to my soul. Happy Birthday Beautiful Boy. When you curl up beside me at days end and let out that long contented sigh... simply KNOW it is the greatest gift you could ever give me

UPDATE FOR FLICKA'S 4th BIRTHDAY 1st MARCH 2010. Beautiful Boy ......... Happy 4th Birthday .1st of March is the day I have given you as your birthday. We will never know exactly when it was.. but maybe a new day that WE chose when you came and our love will help make up for whatever they did to you the first 16 weeks of your life.We have worked so hard this year to bury the last of the past ..... those issues that still haunted you. We have done well ..... we are work in progress!. I love you dearest boy.. you are so loving and loyal. That sigh at days end is still the BEST thing you could ever give me . Happy 4th Birthday Flicka ..... Love from Mum , Dad and Lucas.

UPDATE 10th MARCH 2010 : Tonight Flicka gained his CGC. I am SO proud of him. This has been a rollercoaster 4 years... and seeing this night is more than I could dream of. We have a point to work from ... and as I have always known... never give up... never drop the leash. I love you Flicka.

UPDATE FOR FLICKA'S 5th BIRTHDAY 1st MARCH 2011.Beautiful Boy ....... ten days after your last birthday you made me even more proud. Despite all your problems... you achieved your CGC . I cried that night.. so SO proud of you. We are still work in progress.. but you have done so much this past year. Then ,you and Lucas looked after me and never left my side after the surgery I had. Between you, you checked on me and simply laid close to keep me safe. Every night when we go to bed you curl up tight beside me and I lay my hand on you and simply know you are my Heartshine. There are big changes coming this year.. and hopefully it will give us all a wonderful place to just "be". Happy 5th Birthday Flicka ..... Love from Mum , Dad and Lucas.

From cowering abused and alternating reactive fear based dog to a proud Heeler. YES.. we are still work in progress.. that will be the way of it always. The love you give to those in YOUR world is heart-stopping. I dont expect you to love all people and all dogs... why should you? I feel honoured that you allowed me into YOUR soul. Who rescued who here ?

It was a bittersweet realisation today when I saw that Flicka's tribute to Levi was Diary of The Day. Sometimes.. when you are in the gutter with the deepest hurt... its hard to remember to look up at the stars.

Time and again I urge to Celebrate the LIFE and now I do so again. Savour the day... the hour ... the minute. There are no guarentees.

Thankyou all who sent rosies and kind and loving words. Each and all are inside the loving circle that makes the friendships on this site.
