Where have I been?

Where have I been, you might be wondering. Still here in Long Valley, busy with family/friends, and enjoying all the attention I can get everyday! Presently I'm watching Big Cat Diaries on Mom's bed waiting for her to 'start her day' by making me breakfast. The family's gone off to school/work and it's a Happy Valentine's Day because I know Mommy loves me.

Where has the time gone?

It's MAY and I can't believe Mom hasn't up dated my diary in so long! Shame on her, but we have been very busy.

1. I'm hot pink to celebrate Grace's 13th birthday, Mom's 40th, and the Doggie Daze festival. I'm sure to win most creative costume.
2. Last night Mom and Grace adopted a new pup member to our family, Blondie. She's a 4 1/2 year old, yellow lab, F/S, and was living with 14 other dogs in a 'labrador rescue' that was overwhelmed to the point of neglecting pups. Since Stella's passed Grace's been very sad without a pup of her own, so you can imagine she's over joyed right now to have Blondie.
3. This weekend is DOGGIE DAZE, a festival to support The Long Valley Dog Park and all things dog. If you're in NJ you can't miss it!

OK lunch is calling. Time for hard boiled eggs and kibble.

Lady bugs and Snow?

It's March already? Where has the time gone? We have ladybugs EVERYWHERE in the house and it's snowing AGAIN today! I love the snow, but the other day Mom was out in it with me and fell into a 3 foot drift over mud. She was totally stuck laughing on licking level when Dad yelled to get the camera and wow, did she move fast rolling to get out of her mess. I guess it was funny cause everyone was laughing, but I wish Mom was stuck again. She was in the perfect place to lick all over!

Mia Hamm's doing well, Crash and Puckett are having boy issues peeing everywhere to mark their territory, I'm a bit bored cause I'm not going as many places with Mom since she's staying home more and only going out to work, and my zits came back on my chin again. Puckett has them too so Mom's thinking it's probably cause we're inside chewing toys more than playing outside so the extra drool might be irritating our chins.

At the end of the month the family might be taking a trip and I'm going to stay at my friend's house to play while a human friend stays at our house with everyone else. Mom thought I might like the time away from home and this would make one less pup in the house for her to handle. I'll let you know how it goes.

Mia Hamm Joins the Family

So in Mommy's sadness she attempted to cheer everyone up with some humor. She found a PIG on petfinders for adoption and kiddingly sent it to Daddy via email at his work. By the time he got home Mom had decided to go meet piggie with one of the kids who's always wanted a pig. Together they drove an hour to a shelter, met the pig and started the adoption process.

Yes, Mia Hamm has joined the family! She's a 28 lb pot bellied pig, housebroken better than Puckett, walks on a harness Mom fitted with felt to be softer on her skin, loves fruits and veggies, and is a sweet addition to our house family. No barn for Mia, though a 'pig pen' is being designed for added fun for her some days. So far Mom says she likes hanging out on the back porch cause the cats leave food crumbs and there's always something new to smell in the wind.

God Bless Stellaluna

It's a sad time at our home right now. In a surprise to everyone, Stellaluna, our 5 yr old yellow labrador family member, passed away Saturday from kidney failure after being diagnosed with a tick bite illness that's not lymes. What a shock! She was on a diet to lose weight and looking good, just seemed stiff with the winter chill, Mom took her in thinking she needed meds due to arthritis or worst cause Lymes, but she never came home. Everyone is so sad and Mom seems totally off when we play in the yard cause there's no one to play fetch with her that is sure to bring the ball back.

Then last night our oldest bunny, Chrissy, passed away. Now both of these furry family members were the responsibility of one child in the house so you can imagine she's feeling a deep loss at losing 2 pets in one week.

Winter's are hard in New Jersey, but it's times like these when we are glad for the sunny days of spring.

Momma Got a New Ride

Hey, Mom and the human end of the family went for a ride yesterday in the Suburban and came home in something NOT what they left in! It's still dark in the morning here and Mom's worrying about frozen pipes cause it's so cold ( and the furnace turned off while we all were asleep - but it's back on now), but she assured me we'd take a ride and photo op outside once the sun comes up. Stay tuned. I know I need to update my pics too.

Weigh in Day

Mommy took Puckett and I shopping for last minute gifts on Wed. and we stopped at the vet for a weigh in. I'm 150 lbs at 2 and a half so by June for my third birthday I should be at my max weight cause that's when my bones are done growing. I still have my girlish figure and everyone says I carry the lbs well.

Puckett, at 17 months, weighed in at 121, but remember he was sick last month and dropped almost 20 lbs due to a flu like cold that went from the humans in our home to the cats and then straight to him. I'm so happy none of us other pups got it. But he's back up in weight, eating a lb of cooked brown rice everyday as a snack with his three meals, and much taller than me. Who knows where he'll be at 3 years old, but I'm sure Mommy will keep us all up to date.

So for Christmas Santa Paws ( Thank you Santa Paws) gave me 2 new doggie beds, incase I fall off the couch when sleeping, 4 giant leg bones ( that I'm letting the other pups help me eat three of), a fluffy toy pig ( which I'm allowing one pup in the family to play with cause the pink fuzz gets stuck in my teeth), and this cool new toy car so the kids in the family can keep up with me out in the snow. I'm one spoiled pup and proud to share my stuff with others. I'm even going to be generous to the humans and let them have first eats at the turkey and 2 hams Mom cooked for me cause I know they deserve it.

What's Goin' On?

Hey, what's going on? There's LOTS of food in my house, but I can't eat it. The family's rearranging the furniture, I saw beautiful giant dog bones come in the house with some new dog beds ( obviously not for me cause I sleep on the couch), but none of it was left out for me and the 4 other pups in the family. Everything was ushered up to the attic never to be seen again. Are they keeping some creature in the attic I don't know about or is this a plot to torment me? I thought they loved me!

Snow is Coming!

It's December now and I'm still getting turkey with my meals. Not that I'm sick of it, but come on - when's the menu going back to pasta leftovers?

The human kids made their letters to Santa and set up that sparkley tree with all the pretty lights on it the other day. Crash said I don't need to write a letter to Santa cause the deer that visit our yard will deliver our message if we tell them. But everytime I start barking at the deer it's time to come back in the house. I hope he remembers I need stronger toys cause Puckett keeps playing tug of war with me and ripping them.

Yesterday one of my human kids said the weatherman is predicting snow. I'm so excited! Mommy bought me a new sweater cause my old one's all stretched out. I think Puckett was trying on my clothes when I was napping. If you get snow before me send me a picture of you in the snow. Maybe I'll come over to play too.

November Already?

Halloween was a blast with cooked pumpkin seeds ( yummy ) and walking in the rain with the kids for an hour. Everyone helped towel me off and I even snagged a popcorn ball. I just get why they put that stuff on their faces that didn't taste right. I tried to lick them clean before going out, but Mommy said stop. Always listen to Mommy! She's got a pocket full of yummy treats.

November's here and Mom's battling the end of year $ numbers, finishing up the holiday letters, planning feats for us all, making warm fires each night to sleep by, done taking that tractor out to mow my grass, and playing more with us pups all layered up in her favorite warm fleeces. They're not the most absorbant for drool, but they're very soft on the snoot.

I hope all my pup friends have a safe, treat filled holiday season and keep intouch with me at hooszoo@comcast.net Mom's getting busier at work so I might not be on Dogster as much, but that doesn't mean you're out of mind!
