I am not doing to well. I was really sore on my left hip all weekend. Mama thought it might be an abcess., but wasn't sure. I would cry out in pain. Mama took me to the vet today, and they had to muzzle me, which they never had to do before. Only because I was in so much pain and didn't want anyone touching that area.
The Vet shaved the area, and come to find out I was either bitten by a Brown Cloose Spider or a Black Widow Spider. Both are very prevelent here in GA. I was put on antibiotics and also a cream that is to be applied. If the skin turns black to take off the dead skin.
I am so misserable. I even have to wear a cone hat. Boo Hoo!
Well Mama went to the City Council meeting this last Monday. I had posted this on the 3 Amigo's but neglected to post it in my diary. Here is what happened:
8/4/08
Mom just got home a few minutes ago. I was so happy to see her, and asked her how the meeting went! She said, don't worry, your NOT going anywhere! Then she told us what happened.
She told us she had to sign her name and waited to be called on. I can imagine Mama was very impatient! BOL! When they called her up, she had only 5 minutes to speak. Mom said she was short and to the point!
She said she received a notice that she was in violation of having more than 3 pets, according to the City Codes. She told the council, one she looked at the Animal codes for the City, and there was no such law! She went through it 4 times, and did not find it. And so did many of her friends. The Mayor Pro Tem said I saw it. Mama said, it is not in there. She also went through the County codes, which they adapted, and it is not in there either. His mouth dropped. Mama walked up to the table and layed on the table copies of county and city Animal codes. In the mean time there Lawyer was quickly going through the city codes and then said, I don't see it anywhere! Mom felt like saying a few choice words, but didn't.
She then went on to say how well she takes care of us, vet care, etc. And she acknowledge the woman who was concerned in regards to the Animals of Porterdale and wanted to implement more laws. Told her she understands her concerns of folks up and moving and leaving there pets behind. But you can't penalize all of us who do take care of our animals. Mama could have gone on and on. They did ask her how many pets she had. Mama said, I care not to disclose that information. They said ok, with a surprise look on there face, they didn't expect that response! BOL!
They did say they would have to research this, now that Mama mentioned it was not in there codes! And they would get back to Mama. They tried to cut her off.
Mama said, so if you try to implement this your going to have alot of angry folks on your hand. And how do you expect to enforce it? No one said a word. When she sat down, she kept on talking, and said, go ahead do what you want, but she was not getting rid of any of us! You could have heard a pin drop. BOL!
Oh did I mention there was a reporter in the room? Mama may make the news!
Then the next person who spoke was the woman who wants to create new laws. She thanked Mom for speaking, and is glad there are others who care about animals. Mom was then invited by the council to be on the new committee for animals in Porterdale! Mama said, you got me! BOL!
They then did state they are looking into possibly grandfathering folks in, like Mama who have more than 3 pets.
Tonight Mama is going to the the City Council Meeting at 6:30 EST and Fighting City Hall for all of us pets!
They are trying to force residents to only have 3 pets per household. If you have more than 3, you have to get rid of them, or take them to the pound. Mama is HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She went all over town today to many businesses and homes leaving flyers and talking to folks, to urge them to all go to the meeting tonight! Mama even went to the Vets, and they have emailed all the local Animal rescue groups, breeders, and shelters!
We are so proud of Mama, she is the Bomb! Please keep your paws crossed! We will let you know the outcome when the meeting is over!
