We are at Jekyll Island, GA. It's an amazing place. My mommy has been coming here all her life, and she wanted me to see how pretty it is. The whole gang is here. I can run off leash on the biggest patch of sand I have ever seen. There are no humans as far as the eye can see. Just me, Buffy, and my family. Luke goes down with us, too, but he is a wimp and hates the ocean. I ran after a sandpiper and ran straight into the Atlantic Ocean. I learned the boundary lines very quickly. There were 3 rainbows over the water today, but I didn't really care about that. I had horseshoe crabs to sniff.

At night, we go for a long ride. We saw 16 deer, 3 raccoons, and 2 'possums last night. The deer don't even run away. My mommy told me that the island is a national historic site, and the wildlife is protected. Whatever......I just know it's fun to hang my head out the window in the moonlight and look for deer.

We go to the millionare's village a lot, too. To me, it's just a bunch of really big, old houses and one REALLY big old hotel. My mom seems to be fascinated with the area, though. I watch for squirrels while she dreams of being back in the 1920s with some folks named Rockefeller, Vanderbilt, Goodyear, Crane (as in the toilets), and the AT&T guy. Whoever......boring. I just like to look at the 200 year old oak trees. I have never seen anything so big around and spread out as those trunks and limbs are. Luke likes to mark those trees, but since I am a lady, I just watch him.

She said those rich people chose to build their lives around Jekyll Island year after year, and that even presidents have vacationed here, too. I can understand WHY! I don't ever want to leave. Next time, we are coming in the camper. The campground is near the "deserted beach". That's a beach with big oak trees on it. It's neat to watch the waves swirl around the trunks of trees. Trees on the beach. That's cool to me.

My mom likes to search around this old house on the island. It was built way before I was born. Back in the 1770s. She dug up an old conch shell, and she said people find pretty pottery there, too. I found some deer poop if that counts for anything. Well, I gotta go for now. We are going on our nightly island ride soon. Maybe we will see more 'possums.
