Arrival Story: We had a Boxer named Rocco and on May 18th Rocco passed from cancer at the age of 11. After 9-11, we adopt our son's Pug, Mae - Mae.
Rocco and Mae Mae were a great team. So after Rocco died, I was walking Mae Mae, and my husband came out with us and was standing on the porch watching me walk Mae. He broke down and cried "I have no 0ne to walk" We knew then that we needed to fill our void with another puppy, for both us and for Mae.
We look in boxer rescue, the ASPCA, and other shelters on Staten Island, NY and the Internet. On May 20th, we happened to walk into a pet store, just to look around. In the first glass box was Zoey, she was 4 months old. She waved her paw at us and it was instant love. The only problem was she was too much money. We couldn't afford her. My husband was heart broken once again over a dog in a 2 day span.
My daughter had called and I was telling her about Zoey, and she said, "Get over there and get that puppy!" She brought that Zoey, Odie for us.
Mae was upset, but has come to learn to love her new sister.
My daughter a few months later got herself a pug puppy named Jax, and now we all live together. We miss Rocco, dearly, but our hearts have opened to 2 new puppies who need our love ad attention.
