Arrival Story:
chewbacca was found by a young lady at Dog's Life, which was our doggie daycare facility. He was found in late february 2007 eating out of dumpsters at the local Winco off 4th plain. They wanted to find him a good home as in washington state they are not fond of his breed. As we recently had lost George due to means beyond our control, we were the perfect candidate for a new dog. Chewbacca is our pride and joy. Plays extrememly well with everything from our friend's cat (Loci) and terrier dog (Lexi) to the neighbor's dogs (husky, great dane, white terrier and other mutts). We are very proud to have him in our family.

Chewbacca's Third Year

Chewbacca has grown up so much. Mellowed out some but still as loveable as ever. His acciendent prone years seem to be behind us. THANK GOD! Those multiple trips to the doctor the first year or two were hard. Luckily he has given up his crazy eating habits!
Chewbacca has blossomed into one of the beloved favorites of his day care facility. He really enjoys each day there. This past year has been filled with a few firsts and some old favorites.
We went to the beach only once this year. He loves the coast but probably not as much as he loves his annual camping trip to Lost Lake. He blossoms there, even enjoyed his second swim of his trips there. He loves to go out if we are out on the water. Otherwise, chewbacca stays close to us. He is definitely a home body. Unlike other dogs who like to sit at the food of their master, chewbacca had his own 'seat' at the campfire. And if there was an empty seat, he took it with or without his master's around.....spoiled dog yes!
We took Chewbacca to the city! We had a weekend in Seattle. Chewbacca was quite shy for the first time. We thought he would be pulling us all over Seattle, quite the opposite. He still loved to meet people. They just had to come to him! And elevators were his nemesis on the trip. But by the third day, not so much. Definitely a country dog!
He has learned a few new tricks, including shake and roll over. He will learn anything for treats! He has is play mates which he loves to play with whenever he can.
This Christmas we hope to get Chewbacca a female playmate to keep him company. Training and Daycare just like Chewbacca got his first year will be given as well. It should be fun to find a playmate for our dear one. He is our first kid and we look forward to welcoming his sister when we find one that fits our busy family life!

Chewbacca has become a star at his new day care. They area always excited to have him....he even has a playmate with his name. Sometimes, it can be confusing as to which one we are picking up unless I say 'wiggle butt' to the newbies for night time pick up. Chewbacca enjoyed a few road trips and is doing better with his car sickness. He loves to go to get cleaned, which is a once a month or so visit. They absolutely think he is a loveable cuddler. he loves to cuddle.

we have been experimenting in taking care of kids, with chewbacca. he has done awesome. the kids ranging from 6 months - 5 years are his favorite. he just wants to lick them and take care of them, particularly when they are fussy. he just looks at them, then us to see what he can do to make them feel better. we are blessed to have such a caring dog that just wants to be there.

We have had a few gatherings with friends to hopefully train him better at greeting people. he is doing better each time though there are a few people he just can't get enough of and just wants to follow and be in their lap the whole time they are over. it is a learning process but I am sure he will get better with time.

it has been a great spring....just hope the sun comes out again soon since I have only been out once with chewbacca on my bike.....he loved it and though he wants to greet everyone we walk by, he does better on walks than with the bike since he is more on the run than walk since I can go as fast has him.....another learning process.....

Chewbacca is doing so well. We had our annual After Christmas White Elephant party and just couldn't believe how well Chewbacca behaved. He was compliments (as well as us) for being so well trained. We are quite proud of our little one. Before it took about an hour for him to calm down with more than 5 people in the room when we first got him....now, it takes about 10 -15 minutes for groups of 5 or more. About 5 minutes if it is just 4 or less. He really is blossoming.
People who were scared of him think him full pitbull but really he isn't. Besides people who think this way usually are afraid more of the breed. He is just a mutt and a loving one at that. Right now he is enjoying his favorite Sunday past time....sleeping on the sofa next to his Dad. What a great way to spend a Sunday.
