Today I Lived

Today, I woke up with the sunrise. I laid in my soft bed, as the sun gently warmed my fur. Outside, the air was clear and crisp, and the sky was blue. Even though I am an old dog, I ran and played, my heart filled with joy. My doggie dish had plenty of food, and I ate until I grew sleepy again. I slept on my blanket while mama gently stroked my fragile body. At sunset, I went back outside to watch the sky change from blue to pink, softly fading watercolors in pastel hues. Today I lived.
