Arrival Story: Snowie came along after my cat, Mittens, died of lymphoma. Mittens had been my dog's companion for seven years. I decided that Sweetie needed a friend; so I went to the pound three days before Christmas, and I found Snowflake. She was tiny, and so scared. I'm not sure she even breathed on the way home... I remember the first time she understood that she was home to stay...she was sitting on the edge of my bed, and I was kneeling, talking to her. I looked into her eyes, and I said, "I love you." She looked back, cocking her head, and then, she kissed me. After that, she was inseparable from me. And even now, her favorite place to be is at my feet, or in my lap, or asleep on my belly. She changed from the little puppy who needed me into the grown dog who protects and loves me unconditionally. She is my touchstone.
Forums Motto: Snow Baby
Today, I woke up with the sunrise. I laid in my soft bed, as the sun gently warmed my fur. Outside, the air was clear and crisp, and the sky was blue. Even though I am an old dog, I ran and played, my heart filled with joy. My doggie dish had plenty of food, and I ate until I grew sleepy again. I slept on my blanket while mama gently stroked my fragile body. At sunset, I went back outside to watch the sky change from blue to pink, softly fading watercolors in pastel hues. Today I lived.
