A Good Dog Day

Today our mom took us to a new dog park with our neighbor dog Bob. Our neighbor Bob ,the chihuahua dachshund mix, let us visit him in his house. We love his person Alan who gave us attention and then we all went to a dog park! There were lots of dogs there, and people to visit and lots & lots of smells.

We had a great time there because it has a huge open field. As soon as we saw the dogs we dashed in. We met a pointer who ran with us in circles and a nice black lab who wanted to play with us more than she wanted to chase her ball. I chased Angus and my frisbee until I was exhausted, all sorts of people threw the frisbee for me. I would drop the frisbee at the person's feet and the person would throw it, they were so well trained! We met a frisbee obsessed dog named Mathilda who let us chase her around with her frisbee and get attention from her person. Angus wrestled and played with another terrier type.

I drank out of the communal bowl and then peed right into it :o) I was smiling ear to ear when we left.

A day of feasting

Yesterday while my mom was away I ate my her flip flops (they were her new ones of course) but I did share them with Angus and it kept us VERY quiet until dad discovered what we were up to. When mom came home she took us on a walk after she dug around for some old flip flops to wear. When we pooped she knew we didn't just chew the flip flops we ate them - you know "waste not want not".
We found some blackberries on our walk and they were very good. Mom picked some for us and only Angus would eat them. I showed mom that I know how to pick them and I like to do it myself. She told me I might have to pick a lot of berries in order to make up for the flip flops though. After our walk mom made a salad and she shared carrots and sugar snap peas with us! Angus will eat anything mom gives him, I am more selective but I love carrots and sugar snap peas.
After a long hard day I settled down to chew the heel off of dad's sneakers. I like to chew the best things under the coffee table because it's hard for the people to see me under there. Mom caught me again :( and she stole dad's shoe from me. Then dad picked up ALL the shoes from the floor. Mom asked me why I started chewing shoes all of a sudden after going through puppyhood without it and I just gave her the sad eyes - but she didn't give me back the shoe.
People are so hard to train.

Mom is on Vacation!!!

So, Mom has stopped studying all the time and we have been very busy.

My favorite adventure yet happened when we went to a place where our dad disappears, the people call it work – then our mom took us on a four-hour epic adventure. We walked to our favorite dog park and then mom threw the Frisbee for us. I am really fast and I get the Frisbee then Angus lies in wait on his belly to ambush me and we play tug-o-war. Next Angus met a new pal a pittie named Abby. She was a big girl with her ribs showing and she ran and chased Angus. I got a little jealous so I charged her snarling a few times and then mom said I needed an “aerial time out” that’s when she holds me up in the air until I calm down a bit. She played Frisbee with me so Angus & Abby could play. Abby’s mom told us that she just rescued Abby who was bred, had a litter of puppies and was left to die. She was really nice to Angus and her best friend is a shih tzu so she knows how to play with small dogs. She tried to follow us but her mom stopped her.

When we got to our river spot there were two people there and they had a little Chihuahua mix named Naya that liked Angus but not me. Her dad barked at her when she was mean cause I was not doing anything. I went swimming and ate some mud when mom wasn’t looking. There was a boy there I tried to jump on but he knew my word “off”. We kept walking and after much sniffing we were back at dad’s work. Mom brought him something called a coconut bliss coffee milkshake, she always says that it’s “not good for dogs” but I think she’s fooling us. All we got was water and the guy at the coffee place forgot to give us dog treats ☹, the pretty lady of the coffee shack NEVER forgets to give us treats and say how cute we are.

We walked over a bridge to an area where my mom says we become wild dogs. The grass is kinda long and me & Angus run in circles. I chase him and he tries to evade me. I heard mom laughing until I rolled in goose poop in my new collar. The collar has pink monkeys on it because mom says I am her little monkey. My mom hates it when we roll in goose poop cause it’s so stinky and takes more than one bath to come off but if she really understood us she would know it is a very alluring scent for our fellow canines. I found a new way into the river and Angus and I raced along the bank and took a dip. After we were wild dogs and got to wrestle we walked along the river downtown and met a lady named Beagle. She wanted to meet us as much as we wanted to meet her and we got some good attention. She didn’t care that we were stinky she said that we made her day! Our walk ended with another trip into the river where the ducks hang out. We had a quickie bath and slept for hours . . . I wish mom was always on vacation.

Morning Romp!

Our mom has an icky cold so she's been lying around the house for a few days. This morning she surprised us and took us for a long walk! It was around 8 am and the whole town seemed empty. We went on a walk by the river like usual but since it was quiet she let Angus and I run around at the south end of the park. We were so excited that we ran in circles - well Angus ran in circles and I chased him until I could flip him over. He's a good sport because I flipped him at least 5 times but he's harder to catch because he is getting faster and trickier. Then we got to run around on trails by the river but we didn't go in because it's too deep there. There's still cotton wood fuzz everywhere so I stalked some. We walked about 2 miles home and then took a long nap so mom could do homework. We get to go out again when our dad comes home.

Mom always says "A tired dog is a good dog".

White Fuzz Frenzy

There's this beautiful stuff falling from the sky here. The people say it's like snow from the cottonwood trees. I chase it when the wind is blowing it and the whole world falls away. It's at the dog park and right by my house. Mom calls me a crack head because I get so focused when I am hunting it I don't hear my name and I stay really still so I can pounce on it. This drives the people nuts because it's hard to walk me. When the fuzz is there I just wanna catch it and eat it. I caught a bunch at the park. I even chased it into the river and even stuck my head under water to catch it. I wish it was here all the time.

Over the hills and to the woods we go . . .

Luckily for Angus and I it was really hot here so we got to go hiking in the woods. I love to chase the butterflies as they flutter by, so I was in heaven. We even got to go to a lake and I almost got a dead fish but the people thought it was yucky so the made me "leave it". Other than that we met another terrier mix named George - he could really run and Angus chased and chased him. That's lucky for all of us because he won't let us relax if he's got energy to burn.

The car ride back was hot and when I got home I was tired and hot. Mom snuck me a piece of strawberry & banana to test my senses and be sure I wasn't overheating (Raffle's mentioned that trick ;) for us dogs to get treats). Because my ma worries about me they put me in the bath tub of cool water and got me all wet. Luckily they didn't rub me with stinky shampoo. Sometimes when I roll in something really stinky they ruin it with the shampoo, silly people they just don't understand.

Well I guess when it rains it pours right?

So this morning Lily was restless so there was no sleeping for me. I got up and offered to take her outside but she was uninterested. So I attempted to lure her to the door when I found a large pee spot and a pile of poop by the door and remnants of last nights doggy dinner in it's own pile.

Lily loves going outside, usually more than food but today she just climbed into her crate when I asked her to go outside. I thought it might be guilt about the accident (when we took Angus outside he had some deposits so he is cleared) but then Lily threw up a few more times. She no longer had food in her stomach so it was clear and mucousy. Normally when she eats something that doesn't agree with her she perks up after she expels it. She also had a few bumps on her head.

By that point I had called our vet and got no answer, it was not quite opening time so we just took her in. By the time we got her in she had hives on her body but no longer on her head. We didn't give her benadryl at home because she was uninterested in food. When they took her temperature her ears were cold and her gums were pale. They thought she was going into a mild shock. So they are keeping her to get her warm, give her IV fluids, benadryl and possibly steroids. They suspect an insect sting, we are really not sure what she could have gotten into in the middle of the night - early morning hours.

What a month!

Lots of excitement in dogland these days. Angus and I went to the beach for the first time. Wow sand is pretty great, it's tasty and you can eat it but you can also dig in it. I chased waves back into the ocean. I tried to roll in a dead seagull but the people stopped me, silly people.

I got to go to the vet. They love me there and they let me kiss them but "not on the lips" I try to tell them I can't aim this licker and sometimes I lick some tonsils. Everything was great at my checkup cause I get my teeth brushed and not enough treats so I still have a waist. Who cares about a waist - ice cream should be dog food right? The people say no way.

The day after my check up I hurt my eye and had to go to the emergency vet. That was fun to meet new people. They were a little forward and said they were gonna take my temperature and then next thing I knew . . . people are strange. I got some "doggie anti-inflammatories" that were pretty yummy and some more eye goo. I hate eye goo! Luckily my eye was not very bad, but it hurt so I was glad they stopped it from hurting.

Yesterday at the dog park I got into something I was allergic to. I don't know what but I had big bumps all over my face and some on my body. Mom said it was called hives and she thought I looked like an alien from Star Trek. She gave me some diphenhydramine and they disappeared. I gave her lots of kisses because I am that sort of girl. The people made a first Aid kit for us doggies cause we are curious & get into everything. She asked our dogter about the medicines we could get.

We are gonna go on another trip soon to see our cat loving Grandpa. That should be fun. I can show Angus where all the cat boxes are.

That stuff called snow . . .

Well there was white stuff all over the ground and it was cold. The people expected me to go walk in it and do my business but I say it's too cold, even with my coat on! I will certainly eat it but I HATE walking in it. Angus doesn't like it either. If he would follow my lead with the potty training thing we wouldn't have to go out there all the time.

It's not so bad having another Boston in the house. Angus is fun to play with and lets me steal toys from him. He and I play bitey face a lot and I can't wait for him to lose his sharp puppy teeth. I have cuts all over my chin from those spikey things. I am teaching him how to play frisbee and he's caught on to stick eating pretty well. He likes to steal the people laps though. Sometimes he just lays right on top of me!

The best thing about cold weather is lying in front of the heater!

Ambushed by a bath!

Well today the weather was really dry and sunny so there were lots of dogs at the dog park. I love going to the dog park to see all the people and the dogs. Right now everyone wants to say hi to Angus cause he's a little puppy. At least he's fun to play with. The pawrents have to carry him 'cause he can't walk as far as me.

We played bitey face and I rolled in the grass and ate some grass and rolled Angus over. I am teaching him how to play frisbee. Sometimes I let him win so he will chase me. He's coming along though. When we got home dad gave us a bath. I hate baths, I stand there very still, shiver and look very sad and make a little distress sound like a reverse sigh. This makes them feel guilty and they hurry up. I got bacon and mom turned up the heater for me. I like to lay in front of it and occasionally lick the air.

Dad put some chicken on our dinner which was so yummy. They have to feed Angus in his crate with the door closed or the little guy will eat my food too. I get to smell his dinner so I can make sure he didn't get anything special. Angus got the crate after dinner for his potty training and cause he drives mom insane with trying to hump me. I get to be in her lap all alone for the first time in sooooo long.
